Is it terrible that I actually sorta recognized Francel as someone I'd previously interacted with, and I still can't really recall who Haurchefaunt was prior to his "noble" sacrifice?
Haurchefant's situation has been milked enough.
Odd rather than terrible, perhaps? We only see Francel during the Coerthas arc of ARR and don't deal with him again, but Haurchefant is all over post-ARR and the earlier parts of Heavensward.
Maybe Francel is just a bit more visually distinct.
Eh, by the time he came back around to relevance in the story, all I could remember was, "Oh, you're... one of the guys from somewhere in Coerthas... Right?" I mean, obviously he remained part of the story, an important intrinsic part. But the whole time, I kept thinking, "I don't really remember why I should remember this guy..."
Probably yes, it's just that he's a little more distinct, to me. Just something about him triggered a faint memory of, "I know that face.." One of the few times I've actually let my character say "yeah, I totally remember you."
You have like 3 months to get it done. This wasn't suppose to be a race to the finish. What they could have done was wait a while and open the gates to those who were severely struggling later down the line and let people actually enjoy the content.
I would love to help you guys, I didn't even get to do anything because Balmung capped in the middle of the week and I didn't have time.
The damage is done now in some fashion.
Maybe they'll lift it again later. I wanna see the restoration by each step myself. :/
All the other servers are also in their last stage and a lot of them will probably be done after the weekend. So instead of three days it took five. Maybe for the smaller servers it will take a whole week. For a content that will get his next update in months. I am also baffled why they feared that smaller servers wont be able to keep up.Please keep in mind that Balmung has likely 4-5 times the amount of serious crafters who threw themselves into this for not only the possibility of housing, but also because this is the first bit of content they've really seen that's just for them...also we wanted World First out of sheer spite because of the unjustified abuse we have heaped upon us just because it's an unofficial rp server. We also were helping to push turn ins on other servers in the Crystal datacenter before the wanderer lockout.
Also since some have posted ideas here is mine:
When you get there you get the notice that a few workers have gone out in the world to gather the mats that are necessary and if you want to help with crafting you can either buy those items from certain NPCs (with quite a bit of gil per item) or you can join those workers outside to gather them yourself. These gathering spots are fates. They will happen all the time in different ARR and HW maps (which might make those maps a bit more alive) and there as a gatherer you have specific tasks to do. And to make it fair you might even be able to catch fish to give the workers something to eat which in turn gives you some mats.
After you get your mats through this you can return to Isghard and craft whats on the list. Depending on what stage it is, this will change and there is also a certain amount that they need with it each items so you cant just craft hundreds of oven. But they will give enough different items so that you will have enough with each crafter and lvl.
These points when you turn them in go into the server wide stages but the stages should be way higher. If a certain point is reached and the person has also crafted a certain amount then a "fate" will be able to spawn. But unlike the one right now, its personal. So if the stage is ready by doing enough as a community and if you have given enough yourself you can speak with a NPC which will teleport you to a special instance. There you can depending on the crafter you are at that moment do certain tasks similiar to the fate right now or they can go and do something different and make this a minigame. So each time you click on something to built it you get a small game with different kind of tasks. Hitting certain buttons for example or having a good reaction time. You dont need to finish each task to be successful but you can if you want. For each one you will get more rewards. And after that is done the zone will change with a cutscene.
So what is the difference: Well until right now where the stages are done once and lost to those that never were there and seeing the zone already built, you will see the zone as it was until you have finished your personal part in this (so kinda like Doma) while the stages and thus the community can already be done with it. They kinda need instances who react to your progress but they have already done that with Doma and with the new pixie tribe so its possible. This way they can also include cutscenes.
The Fates would be left in the open world and can be done all the time. And the "fate" in the city is something personal and maybe something a bit more than just clicking on things.
And if later on housing will be introduced they can make it so that you can still go to the district even though it has not been built by that time and still not hinder people from experiencing that restoration.

Now that the hype has died down, any possibility to revert this change?
Would allow some of us to do Diadem after data center travel.
Yeah, Dynamis is dying off pretty quickly, and once maintenance comes and goes it'll be super dead. I'd like to be able finishing my dol and doh while im on another dc as that's where I'll be spending all my time.
Posted something here: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...69#post6631669 in case you want to add a thumbs up.
