Off...But not off...GCD? OBNOGCD? What even should we call these? (Sonic break etc)

Okay so in Shadowbringers, they added a new system which allows some skills to be on the GCD recast timer, but have a seperate cooldown based off your skillspeed/spellspeed.

The ones that come to mind are Sonic break, Shadowfang (As of 5.1), That double medare button i cant be bothered to look up the spelling for on SAM, The starting button for the Gnashing Fang combo...And probably some others.

It got me thinking....

GCD = Global Cool down

oGCD = Off Global Cool down


So....What are these? They require your GCD to be available, but at the same time dont adhere to GCD recast times...But is still affected by Skillspeed, unlike conventional oGCD's.

What should we call these? What acronym?

SoGCD? Segregated/Seperated off Global Cool down?
SSGCD? Skillspeed GCD?
GCDoGCD? GCD off GCD?

Anyone got any ideas? It'd need to be something short, if nothing else.

Sonic break is a Weaponskill so its on the GCS like all weaponskills but it has a long CD. If it was an ability it would be oGCD.

Does it trigger the GCD? It's a GCD.
Does it not trigger the GCD? It's an oGCD.

I just call it a "Per-(base recast time) GCD". Gnashing Fang is therefore a "Per-30 GCD".

If it cannot be used during the GCD and triggers the GCD, it's a GCD. Historically, all skills which cannot be used during the GCD have also triggered the GCD.
If it can be used during the GCD and triggers the GCD, as Empyreal Arrow did in HW, it's usually been called a "Half-GCD", "pseudo-GCD", or "woven-GCD"
Anything else is an oGCD.

They’re a GCD with a separate cooldown. I don’t think we need to over complicate this, it’s just a GCD. If anyone needs an explanation for what the yellow circle is it just means you can’t use it until it’s off cooldown. No need to add another abbreviation to confuse new players.
