    DirectX 9 & 11 Crashes

    EDIT 2: My game was working OK today, even with dx11, I'm not sure if the recent patch made a difference, but the only other change I made was downgrading my bios back to a few versions earlier and then I had no crashes today. If this was the fix, I'm confused as to why it would have been causing directX issues in only this specific game... You would think the error would be far more frequent and in all games using directX... I'll update this post again if I experience any more crashes but fingers crossed this has fixed it...

    As a lot of people have been posting recently, I've also been experiencing continuous game crashes, irrespective of whether the game is run in DirectX 9 or 11.

    The crashes occur at completely random times, sometimes within seconds of loading in, sometimes I can play for 15 minutes before it crashes.     My PC was recently built and this is the only game I have any issues with, my specs are:

    -2080TI
    -Ryzen 3700x
    -16GB DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz
    -msi x570-a pro

    All of my drivers are up to date, and working perfectly fine. I have performed tests to verify I have no issues with the RAM too.

    I have tried every solution I can possibly find/think of, not limited to:
    - Capping/Uncapping the framerate
    - Playing in windowed/borderless/fullscreen
    - Running in Compatibility Mode
    - Running as Administrator
    - Changing the game folder name and forcing it to recreate the profile
    - Never Alt-tabbing out
    - Reinstalling the game
    - Underclocking/Overclocking the GPU
    - Lowering/Increasing the RAM frequency
    - Reinstalling all Nvidia Drivers (after uninstalling them and clearing the registry using CCleaner and guru3d ddu)
    - Reinstalling windows 10 (and only installing the game and drivers)
    - Performing a 'clean boot'
    - Disabling all overlays
    - Moving the game from SSD to HDD

    The game is almost unplayable for me at this point without the fear of crashing, and clearly from the influx of people complaining about this issue, it is a bug in the game and not with my PC. Considering i'm paying and unable to safely play the game at the minute, I do hope that a fix is presented swiftly.

    EDIT: It's also worth noting that a lot of the crashes don't display any error messages, the game just completely freezes up and then closes and adds an exception to the event viewer logs (a couple of the Exception codes were 0xc0000409 and 0xc0000005 if it's of any use).

    In the screenshots you provided, the graphics drivers are listed in the error report. Since you already tried reinstalling the drivers, it may be that something is interfering with them as they are interacting with the game.

    I'd suggest trying a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game. Also, remove any overlays that may be present along with closing any unnecessary programs.

    If you haven't already, try removing the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Be sure to make a backup of this just in case it doesn't resolve the issue.

    That doesn't help to stop them. Should check out what on game changes at 2:30pm. pst. because that right when started to get hit by them today. I was in same area for over 2 hour and had none at all then bam got hit with one right after another. I was in pyros when they started up at 2:30pm.

    Thank you for the response, I still encounter the same errors after a clean boot, I have no overlays running, I'd also tried removing the local save folder, none of these changes prevented the game from freezing/crashing. It has just crashed another two times today, once whilst using the market board and another whilst stood in the QuarryMill. Are there any updates on whether the bug causing the crashes has been located?

    Bumping this as I've still not had a response/acknowledgement of there being an actual issue, but thought I might as well list even more things I've done to verify this isn't a problem on my end (if it somehow is then it's incredibly well hidden, but given others have the issue I doubt I'm wrong...)

    - Everything listed in the original post
    - Changing config files to set anything related to dx11 to have a 0 value (I actually thought this worked, the game ran for almost 3 hours, but then went back to the same errors constantly with nothing changed)
    - Swapped out my 2080ti for my old 980ti, still crashed
    - ran memtest86, verified there was 0 errors with the RAM

    I can't think of anything else to try at this point... The fact that everything else works perfectly fine and issues only arise when playing FF14 indicates to me that it is a bug in the game... I would be grateful if a member of the support team could at least inform us all that someone is actually looking into this potential issue?

    Seems like everyone that's having these dx11 errors has windows 10. Something in the 5.1 patch is not compatible with windows 10.
