    Commendations and Mentor system

I agree about the changes to the mentor system I think they should put more infrastructure into the mentor system, to where only the best of the best can be a mentor. It's to easy for players to have friends boost player comendations. They should do something like a quiz like in Final Fantasy VIII when ranking up seed. Right now the player commendation system is a joke. I play two roles right now a healer and a tank most players leave dungeons, raids or trials before even sending commendations. I have played perfectly with these characters and not one commendation in the last 25 d,r, or t's. Frankly, I was interested in becoming a mentor but not so much anymore. I would love to get more commendations not for the mentor status but for the unlocks in the achievement log. I don't know every thing about Final Fantasy XIV but I do enjoy it and it nice to receive rewards for working on them. But when it relies on other players to do something as a commendation forget it.

A quiz wouldn't help much considering someone could just put the answers online.

And friends can't comm each other. Only people matched by the game itself can comm each other.

Some people just don’t care about commendations—so they don’t stick around after duties end for them. Others don’t care to give out commendations. And other still commend less for perfect performance and more for things like glamour, character name, personality, etc.. I don’t really think that they’re the best criterion to apply to prospective mentors simply because the ways they can be given out can be entirely irrelevant to player knowledge or performance, but that’s my opinion.

Mentor shouldn't be easy to get but at the same time should be hard. Can't have to few mentors where none will be in the novice network to answer questions Not hat you need mentor to answer novice questions but entry into NN requires mentorship and novices do use NN as a readily available source to ask questions. I do wish people would stay to give out comms so I could get that Parade Chocobo Whistle faster

I'm sure most people who are for/okay with the commendation requirement would agree that it is not the best criterion, but simply the best we've got at the moment.

I feel much better with the new requirements, because since 5.1 dropped, I went from seeing almost a third of players in a duty being mentors to one or two in alliance raids max (and often none in trials and dungeons). It really shows that these people that are supposed to be so experienced don't even have 1500 comms. For perspective, I've played on and off since launch, as all roles, and I'm just barely reaching 1500 comms (I have like 1460 or something). I don't do a lot, but I've still seen a lot of the game. If these people don't even have more comms than me, how are they supposed to be so much more qualified to mentor people?

Unfortunately, changes in the number of recommendations required did not solve the problem. Due to existing exclusive incentives for mentors, this system has become completely non-operational, generating toxic behavior of those who farm achievements, want to get an exclusive mounts, or cherish their pixel crown and the title "mentor" that compensates for their sense of own inferiority.
The mentoring system is completely rotten and should be cancelled.
