Yeah, it's really strange. On the website she had pale skin much like normal 2B, but in the actual game she does have the darker brown/tanned skin tone of 2P....so I have no idea what happened lol.

It could be an issue with whoever did the promo art. I'm reminded of the way that Gaius looked almost Nordic in the Prelude in Violet artwork, when he's very dark-skinned with black hair in the actual game.
Both characters simply look like they have a tan to me. In 2P's case it's outright confirmed to be just that based on the description linked earlier on in this thread.
You know I hate stepping into this minefield here, but - don't use "Eastern Culture" as an excuse whenLmao, no I said a western definition of colorism doesn't work very well on an eastern culture and forcing it is arrogant. The desire for lighter skin has existed in Asia for centuries. It hardly has anything to do with the same racial stigma, key words same here bc they ultimately have a different history and culture, as western countries. I never brought up racism, pal, you are. I am merely saying you're taking western social constructs and applying them to Japanese culture. The fact you wanna bring up racism is a clear defining factor that you don't know why Asians have tried to lighten their skin for centuries.
1. It was made by an Eastern company that already established a darker skin tone, and...
2. the fact SE is now an international company and their biggest consumer base for this game is in INTERNATIONAL waters. You don't get to hide behind that excuse if you are marketing internationally.
That said I do agree this is overblown just a tad in terms of outrage. Yes she doesn't have a very pale complexion, as she's a color swap of another character and I get why it feels like whitewashing if lighting or something was done inncorrectly. That said seeing her from a distance doesn't really show that she actually has an olive complexion as color is ...well relative.
I mean I could tell you a color is grey, but if it sits next to another color it can look blue
Prime example.
Bringing it up is fine, Having a discussion about it is fine, from both viewpoints. Making it seem like it's world ending...not so sure given that lighting and different factors can be an issue when porting in characters from other games.
