I miss the ARR title screen background and music , speaking to others , they feel the same. Wouldn't it be cool if you could select your favourite intro. Im not sure on the technical side of things and I understand how it needs to change with the expansions but it was a thought and something I wish I could change.

They did with FFXI and I've been using WoG forever now.

If they do this with FFXIV, it's definitely going to be Heavensward forever.

I too like the Heavensward one for some reason. I still enjoy the Shadowbringers one, but for whatever reason the HW one reminds me of a simpler time.

FFXI has always had the same basic title though and just simply changed the backing music and added new expansion titles with every successive expansion (to the point they had to start listing them in a stack on the side of the screen as they ran out of room having the expansion titles under the main title!). And the ability the change the background music was added in a patch fairly recently. The background however has always been the same: views of various zones in the game (like one of the teleport Crags or places like Gustaberg or Valkurm Dunes). Unlike FFXIV where every single version or expansion to the game changes the title completely in every way, from the title itself to the background to the music, dating back to version 1.0 (for the benefit of new players who joined recently and thus missed out on seeing the earlier title screens):

1.0: Plain white background with the original title in orange and blue and BGM Prelude ~ Rememberance
ARR: purple/blue aetheric background (similar to the character selection/creation background) with ARR title and old 1.0 logo in blue and white, and BGM Prelude ~ Rebirth.
Heavensward: Black blackground of snowfall in nighttime with HW logo in white and dark blue shimmering over a shimmering view of Ishgard in a blizzard in the gloom. BGM A Cold Wind.
Stormblood: Red firey background of a firestorm with the SB logo in red and yellow erupting out of the flames like a banner to the sound of roaring cheers. BGM Prelude ~ The Long March Home.
Shadowbringers: Background of the golden Everlasting Light sky of the First being split into a purple V shape to reveal the night sky. BGM Four-Fold Knowing.

I must admit I kind of dislike the SHB title as the gold and purple... just clash too much (I remember someone ages ago did a mock-up SHB title screen with a black 'shattering crystal' effect that was far far better than the official title screen we actually got! :P), so, I'm going to throw my support behind this request for change. Maybe a return to the 1.0 style screen with the game's basic logo (the old 1.0 logo but in bluish-black) with ARR and the expansion titles listed underneath as a 'default' title screen (which would also fit in with the new 'light' launcher as well, while still retaining the option to select another title screen that you prefer (maybe the config option could be "Use default title", "Use current expansion title", and "Select a title screen", with the later opening a drop menu to choose the prefered one).

I didn't like the Stormblood screen, and Shadowbringers made it even worse. Blaring music and that awful purple/gold colour clash.

ARR was much better - it was simple and it continued into the character select screen with the same visual theme and music, instead of hearing two different songs for half the time each.

I wasn't talking about the scenery - indeed that has never changed - but the music. I remember changing the theme to WoG and that was years ago, don't know how long exactly, in fact it was me sitting there actually listening to the whole thing that made me change it ( I had never bothered to listen to any of them to full length before then ).

Except each FFXI expansion introduced a completely different background musical theme for the title screen (the original one being Naoshi Mizuta's Vana'diel March), where as FFXIV has since version 1.0 just gone with multiple variations on the same theme for every expansion title (Nobuo Uematsu's seminal FF theme Prelude - even Shadowbringers's title theme is a remix of the Prelude, or at least segues into it after a few seconds), and only differs in the style of how that basic track is remixed.

Having said that, variety is the pulse of life so an ability to change the background music at least would be nice to have, if not the whole title screen.

I would like a drop down menu like this:
- Highest expansion purchased (The way it works now)
- Last logged out (See below for explanation)
- Random
- Shadowbringers
- Stormblood
- Heavensward
- A Realm Reborn
- Original (The title screen and music from the now-defunct original FF14 version 1.0)

The Last Logged Out option would make it select the title screen based on where your most recently played character last logged out. For example, if you last logged out in Ishgard or Dravania, it would show the Heavensward title screen. If you last logged out in Kugane, the Stormblood title screen will be shown.

I remember seeing that, but I think the current one is much better. Its a complex background instead of a simple gradient or one color and it reflects on the theme of the expansion. The music is fitting, too. What the user made is pretty without a doubt, but it feels generic enough to be a screen for any other FInal Fantasy title screen
