A chemist healer (probably called Apothecary). Give it Mix as a mudra-ish support system and a rifle-ish weapon that shoots out its potions.

Oh god no, we dont need another sword wielding job, we already got 5, 6 if you include the "ninja sword" models for Ninja, even though their weapons are classified as daggers.
To clarify, PLD, DRK, GNB, SAM, RDM, and NIN all use various swords. How they use them is debatable, but they are swords.
OMG YES!!! Finally someone who paid attention to the quest chain. GEO was never stated to be a healer just a guardian/protector. A healer isn't an incorrect assumption, but a tank fits just as well if not better.
I don't think Oracle would count as an iconic job. It's only been in like 2, and one was as an extra job in a remake. The iconic jobs that I think are still out there are, Mime, Gambler, and Freelancer(I know but it's a thing)Iconic jobs that are left:
Chemist
Geomancer
Beastmaster
Oracle
Magic Knight
Time Mage
Berserker
Jobs that are left but too inconsistent to be called iconic:
Mathematician
Songstress
Psychic
Muskateer (Still technically has a lore only guild in Limsa Lominsa)
Illusionist
Juggler
Morpher
Etc.
There's enough jobs for Square Enix to build on for years. We will likely never see them all.
As for the uniconic list, Songstress could be removed, as that is basically a Bard/Dancer hybrid, and those are already in XIV already. Things can get a bit confusing with some of these jobs, since some have a few different names across the series, like Chemist, Salve-maker, and Alchemist are all the same job technically. I think Songstress was the only one that referenced a current in-game job though.
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I would die for a FFXI style Beastmaster.

FFXIV Beastmaster my expectations
:Can charm or tame any beastkin, scalekin, cloudkin, wavekin, seedkin. Like how you can tame pretty much everything in WoW, but they shrink down.
:Limited Job who hunts for beast, including stuff like Behemoths and Dragons.
:Can use a sword, because weapons are gonna overlap at some point in my opinion.
REALITY
:Can only charm small creatures; nothing that is a boss
:They will try to make it a group job, and it will fail miserably.
:Gonna use whips, because those are very intimidating.

IMO it should be doable to make a FFXI-BST, even as a non-limited job.
Weapon: Single handed axe and shield
Armor: Dragoon-line
Will gain 3 pets as part of their initial quest line that can be used in duty content. Outside they have a pet-collection mini game and colosseum battles.
Tiger: Pure single target melee damage
Dragonfly: Ranged AoE
Korpokkur: Single target magic damage and support
Weapon skills would be similar to the FFXI WS': Raging Axe -> Avalanche Axe -> Rampage. Mistral Axe as a ranged attack.
OGCDs to buff the pet, and gauge build to let the pet use a single strong attack, or get a longer lasting attack buff.
But it really depends on whether they want to make another pet based class after SMN, or they've scrapped those concepts entirely.
