Doesn't mean anything, not even is a public profile to see, but it does give you some Achievments, Tittle ( 10 ), Glamours ( 100 and 1500 ), PVE Mentor ( 1500 ), Chocobo Barding ( 300 ), Minion ( 50 ) and Mounts ( 500 and 3000 ).

aheemememememehehemehehhem ahem.
git gud.
I love the aggression in this thread. As a healer main, if I see you helping out on the Raises when my Swiftcast is down, you're welcome to the comm (unless someone else is playing even better). It's depressing seeing a SMN and RDM in your group, a tank or healer down, Swift on cd and having it slowly sink in that you have to eat that 8 sec downtime while the rest of the group enjoys the no-heal time running around like headless chickens eating mechanics and bumping up your rez count further.
The baseline.
If you managed to do all the magic trio: Raise/Provide high Dps/Heal I would give you comm. Unless you demand it. Then it is just bad taste.
But yeah, I give comms in the baseline way of thinking. If nothing happens.
If I run as heal - tank
If I run as tank - healer
If I run as dps - co-dps.
What would convince me to break from that pattern? Either the whole 'save the party' from complete fail. Someone who takes advice kindly and listens. Or good sense of humour and jokes if this run is completely uneventful. Or if depending on the job I am on, my designated 'partner' behaves so badly that I would rather comm a tree than him.
Like p.e. todays run of the shortest level 50 trial ever invented. Couple of sprouts in cutscene. The rest of party bickers on how difficult this is gonna be, foretelling 2 wipes and a disband making up strat on the go. It still makes me laugh.
But yeah, commendation is a commendation. It is supposed to be some sort of 'pat on the back' thing. Since it is given by other player you have to depend on their subjectivity and not depend nor expect it. If you never get comms though - it may mean you are doing something wrong there.
Some off side story: I still remember days (sb times) when I consistently rezzed everyone, including hard rezz with lucid on cooldown at all times, then when cleared I came out with nothing. Then I had a run while barely awake die to stupid, apologise 2000 times while crying from laughing at my idiocy. Leave with 3 comms. Immaculate logic xD
But yeah, all hail comm to anyone who saves the day![]()
I never comm a RDM because of this attitude.
Why are people so bloody aggressive on this thread? I'm pretty sure OP was only being funny. Bunch of Debbie Downers.
When the Eden raids first dropped I decided to use E4N as a testing ground to improve my slide casting as RDM and it really turned me off playing the class unless absolutely necessary. Not the class itself or the instance, I really enjoyed sneaking in casts and had a genuine blast. It was the group after group after group of people I had to carry through it. And this was before RDM had their mana issues fixed as well so I often had no mana to actually attack when I was so busy dragging people kicking and screaming through the fight. It wasn't even the lack of comms that annoyed me, people are free to do with their comms as they wanted, it was the expectation that because they had a RDM in the party the rest of the team didn't have to try and improve because the expectation was I'd just raise them anyways. There's being a rezbot and enjoying being able to save the raid, and then there's literally being out of mana in a constant stream of instances because people have the situational awareness of a particularly dull rock at best, or expect you to carry them at worst. The latter often getting VERY snippy if I didn't rez them promptly enough.
That said give your comms to whomever you want. It doesn't matter to me. But if you have a RDM/SMN who is pulling double duty and carrying the party through an instance a simple 'thank you' or 'good job!' does wonders for our frazzled nerves.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
