FFXIV unexpected error/crash

It just keeps crashing the game, it is becoming unbearable to play.
It is only happening in this game, have tried other games and I don't get the crashes.

I mean come on you have a expansion coming out and this is all over the forums.
I had attempted to boot it in clean mode and formatted even the computer to test it, problem still occurs.

I did Windows 10 updates and updated to recent NVIDIA drivers.
It happens a lot and at random times.
I also notice frame rate drops that are horrible and shouldn't happen for 2080 Ti.

They just need to accept the facts since there are numerous threads/posts about it and even more closed threads with no real solution.
Announce a fix or let us know what the issue is.
We can't play the game at the moment because it just constantly crashes or FPS drops are very bad.
And this doesn't happen when I tried it with other games, so it's definitely not a driver issue or computer issues. It is something on SE/FFXIV end.

I had a problem close to what you are seeing and it turns out that my video card was bad and I was able to tiger the same event using a performance test program from passmark software, using the free trial. If you open event viewer, hit the windows key + r then type eventvwr.msc
then bring down the windows logs then click on System. Check to see if there is a warring message (yellow) saying "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

If you see that message, you should see about warranting your video card or replace it.

The error you are getting is a generic crash error. It's saying that the game is unable to continue operation and needs to close. This can happen for several reasons and it can be difficult to pinpoint the cause. There are several other threads about this issue because it is the same message regardless of the source of the issue. As such, there can't really be a "fix" to resolve every computer that crashes unfortunately.

There are a few other that may help alleviate the issue:

1) Disable all unnecessary programs running in the background. Make sure to disable all overlays as well (Discord overlay, Geforce Experience, etc.).

2) Set compatibility mode to Windows 7. Right-click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7.

3) Do a clean reinstall of your graphics card drivers.

4) Reinstall the game. Make sure to also remove the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make a backup of this in case it doesn't resolve the error.
