Au Ra horns, are they ears?

So, I was wondering a little bit about whether or not Au Ra hear through their horns, or if there's another "ear type thing" that they hear from. From the Wiki, it says that they have enhanced hearing thanks to the "cranial projections" on their head, the horns.

Wondering if anyone has some lorebook entries that can clear this up. Also, are the horns hard, or are the soft and bendable, like an ear would be?

I can't imagine sleeping is easy for Au Ra, with those horns projecting out.

Theyre basically ears, yes. They hear differentlly but essentially normal enough. They're hard, like horns would be. And hard to break even.

I'm pretty sure they are. I checked with every haircuts and you don't see any ears on Au Ras, so my bet is that their horns are ears

Yes, the horns more or less replace human external ears. My understanding is that the horns are hollow (though that doesn't mean brittle), and they hear via vibrations from sound waves. If I recall it also boosts their spacial awareness but I'd have to double check the lore book on that one.

If broken the horns will slowly regrow, but they grow to a fixed length and don't keep growing forever.

According to Encyclopedia Eorzea: "...They take great pride in the majestic horns that protrude from the sides of their head, which also serve to enhance their hearing and their sense of spatial perception."

So, yes, they're basically ears.

maybe horns is same as sensor to receive Impact from any sound.
