    Does anything (stats?) help overmeld success rate?

    Is there a stat (Control, Craftsmanship) that factors into the success rate for overmelding?
    Is it just pure RNG, with decreasing returns the further on down you go trying to get those last few overmelds in?

    the grade of materia (I, II, III, IV, V, VI) will dictate what the overmeld success rate is, but there is no stat or anything that can affect the listed percentage for each meld.

    HQ gear do give a slightly higher rate of success over NQ gear. But no one would overmeld a piece of NQ gear in the first place anyway. The stats difference between HQ and NQ is just too much to make up with materia.
