    Consistent Pack Loss

    Hi there,

So since changing ISPs (or network cards), I've been noticing some packet loss in FFXIV (primarily in group content). I'm on Aether, specifically Cactuar and have tried everything I could think of, baring using a VPN.

I've done traceroutes, pings, allowed FFXIV through my Windows Defender Firewall, opened the relevant ports on my router and I have the specs to max the game at a comfortable frame rate.

    Here are my results.

Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

How long has the packet loss issue been occurring? You mention it happens during group content, do the connection problems happen anywhere else in game? Also does the loss of packets cause lag or a disconnection?

    Hope to see you online!

It appears to only happen in group content, such as dungeons. It does not appear to happen anywhere else. It causes what I could only describe as latency issues, where everything but my character freezes, then after perhaps a second or two, everything speeds up to catch up what I missed during that time. I am not disconnecting, however.

    EDIT

So I looked at my port forwarding settings and while FFXIV was there with the proper ports forwarded, my router had given my Desktop a new local IP address which differed from the ones allowed through the ports. I made my IP static with a permanent DHCP lease and with FFXIV's ports being properly forwarded, I was able to do a dungeon without any lag. I hope this helps someone else.
