They can pick and choose what remains exclusive, actually. They have no obligation to add older items to the game...but they also have no obligation not to add older items to the game.

As for PvP rewards, one can make the argument that they should be unlocked over time similar due to the sheer amount of win trading, boosting and throwing that exists in ranked PvP in the NA/EU datacentres...but that's a separate discussion for another thread.

    You've been misinformed.
It's tricky to rely on translating XIV difficulty naming over the 2 games.

I cleared both Ultimate and Rivenroad (Hard), I think I can give accurately enough my 2 cents about comparing their difficulty.
But as opposed as some people, I'm taking everything into account to measure their respective difficulty, because in the end, you have to go through all those things to get your clear, not just popping in the arena, and this is what will dictate the number of hours, your involvement level and all the resources you had to deploy.

I could write a whole page about every little things making Rivenroad (Hard) really challenging, from all the servers being only in Japan with 300ms to 400ms crazy latency, to the length of the fight (30 min, 10+min longer than UCoB), to the gear up with Darklight and Relics that were really testing one's abilities, to the special item you had to craft and use in the fight, to the instance that was kicking you for each wipe, and forcing you to re-queue until one of the instance gets available to your group, and so on and so on.

So many things, so many layers of difficulty. In the end it took me a bit less hours than an Ultimate to clear it, but way way way more hours and efforts than an Ultimate if you take into account all the requirements, and way more sporting stress.

I'm gonna give you another example where you can't rely on XIV difficulty naming between the 2 games, Ifrit Extreme 1.23 and Ifrit Extreme 2.1. The reason I can compare their overall difficulty well enough is because I did them with the exact same players.

For Ifrit Ex 1.23, it took us a month, going there everyday for hours.
For Ifrit Ex 2.1, it took us one hour.

And those are completely different fights with different mechanics on two different games.

Current XIV and 1.23 are as challenging as each other when it comes to true end-game, but for completely different reasons, and those reasons don't matters, only the challenge does.

    It isn't healthy? It's troubling?

I think you just missed how video games evolved. Their biggest flaw lies in their name: video games, I have attended many conferences addressing this issue.

In my country it's considered as the 10th art, and these past years, it's been also classified as a sport.
The International Olympic Committee, along with the Global Association of the International Sports Federations are on their way of adding competitive video gaming to the Olympics.

XIV is a game advertised as challenging and competitive, for both PvE and PvP. From the host of tournaments to media covering world clear races, it's a sport. XIV is many things, and it's also a sport.

Among all kinds of players XIV have, some are there for the sport, its sport challenges and trophies.

I hold the same value for my Tennis trophies and current ranking, as for my FFXIV accomplishments, as I did the exact same sportive work for both.

I understand there's all kind of people playing FFXIV, the same way you should understand that among them there are sportsmen.
Sports and competitions aren't unhealthy, you should not say out of nowhere that we aren't healthy, that's it's troubling, that we should seek help and emotional support towards you in the game.

There is no maintenance left before the Rising for them to take into account all the Japanese, NA and EU feedback on this matter.

But since there's still a way to tell who cleared that fight 6 years ago through their Lodestone 6th Astral Era History Logs, they still have the opportunity to please everyone after the event, during a future maintenance.
They can rename all White Ravens to replicas, they did that countless times already, renaming an item, and then they can just put the original ones at the Calamity Salvager available to players with that 6th Astral Era database entry.

If really everyone who wanted them back, was to glamour them, they should not bother the name being a replica.

Then problem solved. Everyone's happy. Everyone's treated with enough due respect.

I know that. But again if they somehow can throw such items into a event then no other exclusive item has at least a good reason to stay exclusive. If they do that is another question but again there is no good reason anymore why not. And anyone arguing that their mount shoud stay exclusive also has no room to argue anymore because why should theirs stay exclusive if others dont?

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

If 1.0 didn't have animation locks, I have a feeling the fights would have been much easier.

Are you surprised, there are so many things said back in 2012 that have been rendered false.

    Popular examples include (paraphrased):

"Personal and FC housing will be separate"
"We will never implement a demolition timer, it is an archaic method of controlling housing"
"Mogstation will not have exclusive items" - This one was made hugely clear in a fan fest keynote, and was ironically ended with yoshi P chanting "no pay 2 win"

For that, imo that is, SE had money problems after those were stated.
Because, as you know, now it makes money and/or saves some.
