Massive lag spikes, error 90006 disconnects, only thing lagging is FFXIV

Ever since you have installed replacement hardware on your network following the power outage, me and my partner have been experiencing huge lag spikes every few minutes while playing. Some of them resulting in complete disconnects under error 90006.

While the lag spikes have been taking place, I've been trying to use google chrome and other games to check if it's lagging from our end, those programs have been running absolutely lag free with no problems.

So it's definitely not our internet connection or our ISP.

What's going on with your replacement equipment? Is it bad quality stuff?

Do SE have no weekend staff? Anyone regular on these forums know?

I've been getting the exact same issues, with the exact same error message (90006). Nothing else on my PC is lagging, and I wasn't having these issues yesterday either. It's making the game's dungeons and raids practically unplayable.

    Indirectly it is.

I'm having the same problem right now, but do a traceroute and you'll see the problem is on the way to the SE servers our ISPs are routing us through GTT which then routes to Level3 and that's where the problem seems to be.

Unfortunately, frustrating as this is, there's nothing SE can do to fix this as it is nothing to do with them. We can only wait it out until GTT/Level3 fix the nodes in question or use a VPN type service to route around the problem nodes.

Hello Brerak, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Can you elaborate on the kind of issue you are having?

    Please provide:

    - Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
    - the nature of the latency
    - Type of connection (wired or wireless)
    - Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
    - Everything you have tried to resolve the issue

Please be aware that Final Fantasy XIV requires a more demanding connection than many other websites and applications. Additionally, your ISP may take you through a certain route to get you to the XIV server and a different route to other websites, meaning you might run into problems with one service but not another simply because of the path your internet chooses to get there.

Hope to be of assistance. Thank you for playing Final Fantasy XIV! Hope to see you online.

Post up a tracert and lets see where you trouble begins if you are connecting to the NA servers that is. You can do the same with the EU server's IP as well but you need their IP address.

Go to command prompt on windows and type the following...

    tracert 204.2.229.97

Post back here with issues. You are probably having issues with NTT like so many others have reported. But we won't know till you post it.

Also make sure to follow the mod's instructions. But it sounds like it will lead to the same conclusion. Them blaming your ISP and not taking it up with their own.

Should look something like this. Notice how I'm getting issues with NTT? You might be too.

    Code:
      1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 10.0.0.1
