    High Latency

So as of a week or two ago i began receiving incredible amounts of high latency/delay that seems to occur on a 'on and off' basis. Ever since i started playing, i have never received such latency issues, even though i play on the NA server from the UK. After contacting Square Enix Support and trying everything they suggested, the told me this

"After looking into your issue, we have noticed that you are encountering a spike in latency when your packets are traveling through a particular set of IPs that belong to the same Server Owner. Unfortunately, this is a third party that your connection is traveling through and we may be limited in how we can help due to this."

Then suggested i take this issue to the forums. I did a WinMTR and this is the most recent result

    Code:
     |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
    | WinMTR statistics |

    Platform: PC
Type or Connection: Wired, but using a Powerline Kit in order to be so

As for programs running, just background ones such as Steam, Malwareytes, Gyazo, Elgato Sound, Corsair Utility Engine, Corsair Gaming Software and Nvidia Settings. Also Discord sometimes, but ive had all these running since before the issue began

It goes on and off, ill have hight latency for a long while, then it eventually goes away and comes back again whenever i shutdown the computer, and the cycle repeats, forcing me to leave my PC on overnight to maintain latency.

As for resolutions ive tried Power Cycling the router, changing UnPN from 1 to 0, DNS Flushing, restarting/rebooting PC, checking for software updates

Thank you for the information Bloodfang.

You mentioned that the issue goes away after a while if you keep your PC on for long enough, how long do you keep the PC on in order for this to go away? How consistently does the error return if you restart the computer?

Due to the distance you are from the Data Center, you may be exacerbating any connection problems you may be having. Do you have any characters on the EU Data Center? See if you have the same latency issues while connecting to that Data Center.

A few things you may want to try:

Open the Internet Explorer browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    - Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    - Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

Your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Following the moderators instructions is a good start. If you are still having issues, there is nothing much you can do since NTT is Square Enix's ISP. Ultimately the moderator team will tell you to contact your ISP and leave you with an unsolved resolution.

This issue rests with Square Enix though and your ISP will tell you the same.

Yes playing on EU, everything runs great, no latency issues whatsoever

Unfortunately i never kept track of the times, i just log off/exit game and login again at random intervals until latency becomes stable and as for its consistency of coming back after PC restart/shutdown is every time.

Thank you for the update Bloodfang.

You are much closer to the EU Data Center so it would make sense that you wouldn't have these issues while connecting to that one.

Have you had a chance to try the troubleshooting suggested above?
