I remember enemies in FF11 cast Silena right after Silence wore off (and after Break was introduced I think they also cast Stona right after that wore, too).

A tip: The slugs' silence move is AOE around the slug. Your CNJ friend should easily be able to stand far out of range as to not be hit by it. Our casting range used to be about 1/2 of what it is now and it was possible to be out of range back then, too.

Also the slugs periodically fire off their AOE move even when they aren't actually in a fight. They seem to do it whenever someone walks by them, as a defense mechanism. Make sure to be careful when walking near some =P

Tip: You can dodge the slugs move. If you see them chariging up, back away. It'll save you the effort of buying and using throad drops.

Thank you everyone for all the help. Nice to know everyone seems real helpful in this game. Well not everyone( those folks in-game that told me nothing could be done about silence grrr)

Hey I looked at the new changes coming to 1.21. They seem awesome and scary at the same time. Scary because I'm just learning how to properly play my classes are they now going to change by that much? And also this seems like a HUGE PATCH. How is the FFXIV team with patches like this do they tend to be tons of bugs within the code on something this game changing?

Sadly, most people who powerleveled through the game didn't realize there's items that clear status ailments. Much like they think you can't avoid sound aggro mobs in this game.

Speaking of power leveling. What's the deal with that? Me and my friend who is around the same level as I. Get asked 24/7 by higher levels if they can power level us. She gets annoyed to no end by it. I think that maybe a lot of top levels are so Lonely that they want somebody else to play with so they try to level u up to their respective levels.

I just wanna get there the good old fashion way otherwise I won't learn squat. And in this game learning how to play correctly vs just hitting and spamming buttons seems like a differance between life and death. Ffxiv is no joke.

    Ps what are sound mobs???

Sound aggro monsters refers to monsters that will aggro if you run by them even while they're not facing you. Since they're not facing you, it can't be sight, they must be 'hearing' you run by. To avoid it, you just need to switch to walk mode and walk by.

Note: "Walking" while on a mount will still aggro them.

Caution: Some sound aggro monsters may also be sight, so you may still want to avoid walking directly in front of them.

How do you know what monsters are which? Trial and error.
