It's not like someone will buy 1 or 2 and then nothing from your stack can sell again. If demand is there, your stack will be whittled down as fast as a large single stack. You'll need to undercut to be the cheapest, but demand should set prices either way and you won't need to put big discounts for bulk. You can also put all your materials into one retainer slot instead of splitting into 5 stacks of 5 or such.

It could at least be optional. The seller could choose to allow partial transactions or lock to stack only.

Seller deceides on what he sells, if hes only selling stack there is a calculated risk he deceides to take. The system should not be bend, theres times when a multitude of something sells best.

Besides its horrible business. You buy 99 and pay the price for it ... which will usually involve a bulk discount. If you sell 1 for the same price a unit costs in a 99 stack, unjust.

If 99 sell at 1k each I'd sell you single ones at no less then 5k. Its a RL business model converted into the game.

Dont ask to get 1 out of 99 and hope you get full discount, I'd rather not sell then this.

It being an option for the seller wouldn't be unacceptable. The root of the problem is more that it takes power away from the seller. Maybe they want that bigger chunk of change all at once instead of a trickle of smaller purchases.

Because I'm selling to 2 different markets, some matts are best sold in bulk depending on the economy. I don't want my stack broken and whittled down. At the end of the day if you only need a few and can't gather it yourself you have to deal with what ppl who can gather it are selling.

    I sell 99 sometimes, and I sell 1 or 2 sometimes.

Depends on demand and market trends.

    Never out of laziness.

    Always on purpose.

The problem with having the ability to list a max stack and have players buy as much or little as they like is terrible.

The market board will only ever show 100 listings at a time.
The market board prioritizes cheaper listings first and foremost.
The market board prioritizes larger stacks when pricing is the same.

Now imagine that you list your stack of 99 at x price for a popular mat.

You then have multiple people listing stacks of 99 at the same x price as you until you have 100+ listings as soon as anyone buys from your stack or anyone else's and its the not the whole stack its no longer listed because the displayable board population is full.

You are now punished for making a partial sale because even if you don't get knocked off the listings page all together you are now at the bottom.

People then undercut to boost themselves back up the list and then more people do and so on and so on.

Not to mention the amount of throughput botters can generate which would let them lock down an entire market 24/7 due to the fact they can just keep listing stacks of 99 until all the listings are full and undercut anyone and everyone because they will have guaranteed sales for themselves.

I hate being unable to buy the number of items I want. It is very annoying when you have to buy more because people won't sell items in a smaller stack. People always list items in stupid quantities and you have to buy extra due to the lack of people selling some of those items. More often than not, you only have 3 or 4 sellers for an item and they list them in stupid quantities of like 12, 67, and 99. You can't just buy 1 or 3 or however many you need. You have to buy those extra if you use the market and that's what makes it suck. It's a system that favors sellers more than the buyers because the buyers often don't have options due to a few crafters being able to control the entire market for a few items.

Alternatively you could always just go gather or farm the item yourself when you need only a small amount.

Yes the system does favor sellers, it's a system for selling items. The amount of time invested in order to get some of these items is large and that's not including the materials we gather for ourselves. Then we have to produce profit to not only cover our time spent gathering, but other investments like melded gear ect. Then we also need to take time to farm creation/scripts in order to craft at all, which takes away from doing other things. Also the price on a stack of items will be cheaper as we are selling in bulk as opposed to the price we would use for smaller stacks 5/10 ect, which would effect potential profits. If you consistantly only need a cpl items here and there you should talk to someone in your fc or put up a pf and see if you can contract a gatherer/crafter for fixed prices on things you would need on a reg basis.

Then contact a seller (or a crafter or gatherer) and ask them. Be prepared to pay more than they sell larger stacks for. Or, as others have suggest learn to do it yourself. Don't expect everyone else to risk getting crowded out by bots just because you're too lazy or greedy to figure out a solution for yourself.
