I managed to relocate my FC estate from a mansion in Mist to an cottage in Shirogane.

They sort of have. There's a cooldown on relocation, you can only buy/relocate once every 5 minutes. I mean that's still 12 an hour, but if anyone actually did that, it's a lot of wasted money!

On high population servers its enough few dozen players to do same thing and they actually locked same amount of houses for who knows how many hours. Not to mention even for me who didnt invest in lvl crafting/gathering professions 3 mil. is nothing. I could easy switch few of them and still not have any remorse on "lost" gil.

Our FC leader disabled FC relocation right as soon as we secured a mansion because we have no tangible reason to relocate.

Wait... Did you just say that you got a house in Goblet few minutes before you made a mistake and instead of your house you relocated the FC house? Did i got this right? Because if this is true then i dont feel sorry for you. Instead of be happy to get any house, once you got one you quickly become greedy and start chasing "a better position".

Ninja edit: Why did you rush or panic if you already had a house? Why you didnt just go to sleep if tired once you got a house in Goblet instead of chasing a better position?

Because this particular house, was in the subdivision of the ward where all my friends were. But what is done is done, I'll keep hating myself over this act.

Social > Free Company > Rank tab > Right click a rank > Hierarchy Settings... > Housing tab > Uncheck Purchase/Relinquish Land

Can't be done for the master rank, but can for all others.

Ahhh well I knew about those settings I just thought for Masters could prevent accidental purchases. I've no worries then. Thanx!

For those who don't know what it looks like. The drop-down menu is like this

Purchase for private Individual
Purchase for Free Comapny
Relocate for Private Individual
Relocate for Free Company

I really wish they would change this into:

Housing - Private Individual
and then submenu
-> Purchase
-> Relocate
Housing - Free Company
and then submenu
-> Purchase
-> Relocate
