    Regarding Patch 4.2 Emergency Maintenance

This is FFXIV Producer and Director Yoshida.

The latest major Patch 4.2 was released today at 19:00 JST (2:00 a.m. PST / 10:00 GMT), however due to the high levels of intensity incurred on various zones, there have been issues where some functions of content servers and duty finder servers stopped functioning.

Currently the development team is investigating the cause of the issue while conducting an emergency maintenance to improve the current situation. We would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused while players were eager for the release of Patch 4.2, and that we needed to conduct a maintenance at this huge scale.

Not only due to the fact that we needed to have a long maintenance ahead of the release of Patch 4.2 but also because we needed to run this emergency maintenance, we are currently discussing the possibility to extend the play time by one day to the players.

This maintenance is planned for 2 hours but we are doing our best to finish this as soon as possible. We’d like to ask for your patience for more updates with regards to this matter.
The development and operations teams are continuing to do our best to solve the issue so we are grateful for your continuing understanding and would like to sincerely apologize for the issue.

    * Due to high urgency of the matter, we needed to release this news in Japanese ahead of other languages. However, the same comment will be posted in the respected languages when the translations are done.

Regarding Patch 4.2 Emergency Maintenance: Follow-up

This is Producer and Director Yoshida.

The last emergency maintenance ended today at 22:45 JST (5:45 a.m. PST / 13:45 GMT) after which, we reopened all Worlds. We can confirm that the both content World servers and duty finder servers are now functioning correctly.

Many players, who were not able to progress due to the earlier technical issues, are currently taking quests for content such as the main scenario and Omega Sigmascape, which require quest instanced battles (each DC is currently processing 1800 characters per minute).

We are now expanding the areas dedicated to instanced battles, so that the number of characters who can enter the instances will increase further.

We’re very sorry for the further inconvenience caused and assure you that we are working hard towards a solution and hope to resolve the issues fully in about an hour. We greatly appreciate your continuing patience.

Once again, please accept our deepest apologies for this series of issues, which have been causing such tremendous inconvenience to you, so soon after the release of Patch 4.2.

    Regarding Patch 4.2 Emergency Maintenance: Follow-up 2

As a result of the length of the Patch 4.2 maintenance, as well as the follow-up maintenance addressing the issues with instance servers and the Duty Finder, we have decided to extend the play time of all service accounts with active subscriptions as of January 30 by 1 day.

    Qualifying accounts:
・Service accounts which had remaining subscription days, or an active recurring subscription, as of January 30.
・Service accounts that were on the 7-day free login period provided by the Callback Campaign.
・Service accounts that were on the 15-day free login period provided by New/Preferred World bonuses.
・Service accounts that were on the 30-day free login period provided by registering a copy of the game.

    * If a subscription, or free login period, that was active as of January 30 has ended, the 1 day of play time will be added to the service that was active at the time.
    * We will be adding the play time to all qualifying service accounts today.

We would like to sincerely apologize for the emergency maintenance and the inconvenience this caused for players who had been looking forward to the release of Patch 4.2. We hope that you will continue to enjoy FINAL FANTASY XIV.
