Samurai is not okay!

Tell us something we don't know already, am I right? 4.2 has clear winners and losers, and with the changes to MNK (a lack thereof for SAM) a lot of people are turning in the blade for a pair of boxing gloves. In fairness, they finally get their expansion that they were promised, but their fellow striker remains an undesired job.

The devs seem very scared to give SAM the power that it needs to be more competitive. Call me crazy, but I think it could use a bit of a boost! We could simply boost its raw DPS, give it a different form of utility.. Maybe make it the sole provider of the slashing debuff like DRG is the sole provider of the piercing debuff? Heck, giving SAM the piercing debuff would be good as well..

I guess they don't see a need to change the job because people play it due to being an easy to access DPS that pulls "big numbers" on its own? The casters are also no longer in such a good spot.. but even they have it marginally better(even if they're overshadowed by MNK).

Either SE drops this whole Selfish DPS and Utility DPS, and give SAM and BLM their own powerful raid buff, or buff our selfish DPS to compete with the raidwide DPS the Utility bring.

I think i remember Yoshida stated that DRGs damage was lower than others due to it had so much Utility, only to backpedal on their words.

I personally hope any ideas the Devs has for bringing new Jobs in next expansion gets put on hiatus and focus properly sorting out the Jobs this game already has. Drop Jobs, give new Races instead as a substitute imo

well same old same old each job crys make me better then those other jobs and when they do it starts all over again with hey you need to buff this job now because that job you buffed is now better then mine waa waa balance will never be part of this game because everytime a change is made someone else crys change my job.

Samurai is currently dead, and it will be worst with 4.2 and monk's changes, so Im sorry for ppl playing Samurai, but Samurai wont be one of the best jobs in the game.

The devs either aren't paying attention or don't care because their are massive imbalances.
NIN still has the best CD in the game with only a 60 second CD while BLM has nothing.
At least SAM can bring slash debuff if you don't have a warrior. Oh wait, of course you have a warrior because DRK is broken.
If a class isn't going to have any utility they have to do significantly more DPS than classes that do otherwise they are worthless.
The same goes for a tank with no utility and the weakest defense. If they aren't doing significantly more DPS then they are worthless.
Alternatively lower the DPS of classes with such good utility like NIN BRD MCH and DRG. Otherwise BLM SAM and DRK are dead weight and it is not fun to play as a class you know is hurting your groups. Even a crappy buff like RDM is enough to keep them for being a waste of a slot.
I don't understand how they can let such glaring imbalance go unchanged.

Raw DPS only doesn't work anymore with all boost every class can provide.

It used to before. But things have changed, the game has evolved.

Until the day they understand that, classes like SAM and BLM will suffer.

Yeah, just nerf all utility classes and ignore the fact, that those utilities also boost SAM and BLM DPS, while getting nothing from them in return. MCH for example is only that strong in META groups. Having a party with SAM, BLM and RDM is pain for every MCH.

So, you re not ok in having the highest personal DPS just by pressing 1-2-3-Setsugekka, while giving nothing to your party? Well, lets nerf SAM's personal DPS to the ground (less than BRD) and give him tons of utility. Happy now?


PS: MCH and SMN got nerfed. SAM stays untouched.
