I Think Crafting Actions & Additional Actions Are Backwards

Hello! I apologize if this suggestion has been made before, but I don't normally use the official forums except to recruit for my raid static or my Free Company.

I played FFXI and I came to FFXIV during 1.0. I played on-and-off from ARR launch thru 2.4, and I've been playing non-stop since late 2014. I've always been a crafter/gatherer and my first level 50 (during ARR) was a crafter class. I've never pretended to be the greatest crafter around, but I've been doing it for years.

I've been growing increasingly unhappy with how overwrought crafting has grown in FFXIV over the years. Worse, there only seems to be a couple of workable rotations that crafters are required to learn and use for high-end recipes despite all the "options" available to them.

Every crafter has 23 Actions that are shared among all crafters. Shouldn't these be the shared actions? Take a look at how Stormblood introduced Role Actions to DoW/DoM jobs. Could crafting work that way?

The Additional Actions are what make each crafter job unique, but that uniqueness is lost because those actions are shared among all crafters. What if those abilities were not shared? Each crafting job would have a different and unique rotation that crafters would have to learn. Further, people could actually specialize in the few craftering jobs they want to focus on without having to level all crafter jobs. Hasn't SE wanted us to embrace Specialization for years now?

For DoW/DoM jobs, they have Actions that are unique to their job and share Role Actions to gain tools that are required for all jobs in that role to be successful. Could crafting work the same way?

What are your thoughts, my fellow Warriors of Light?

tl;dr: How about we put common Actions required for crafting on the Additional Actions list and give crafters job-specific Actions and rotations? Right now, it's backwards.

Personally, I'd want to kill myself if I had to learn a different rotation for every crafting class. I already refuse to use specialist actions because I don't want to deal with different rotations (and everything but the highest-end stuff can be done easily without them).

...but I could certainly see why some people might like the idea, and I'm not completely against it.

Thanks for the feedback! I would argue that you already know the rotations for all the different jobs. The difference is you have to string them all together right now because you're using cross-class crafting abilities. Under this system, crafting rotations would have to be, by necessity, simpler. The only reason crafting rotations are so complicated right now is because you have every tool in your toolkit.
