After completing the level 70 scholar quest "Our Unsung Heroes" this is how Landenel addresses a female character:
This is from the "small talk" option.
It's strange when even Elezen themselves cannot recognize each other's genders.

Pink-haired protagonist: I don’t understand!
Purple-haired antagonist: You don’t need to!– All the explanation you need for a (Final) fantasy story.
I had a "HIM" reference to my character in DRK quests a while back (dunno if its still there or not)
but ironically, referring to a woman as man, by old english terms, is still correct, as man in old english meant adult, it didnt mean gendered adult.
woman did mean a gendered adult, and by doing so, eventually people would exclusively use the word woman to refer to an adult female, and if you keep saying the only word left for "man" to reference a male adult, that eventually became the word for male.
I doubt they meant it in the unisex way, but its possible.
