    Quick housing question

Okay so eventually I want to buy a plot and put a Carbuncle house on it. I've already got the stuff to make the house in my FC workshop, so my question is this:

Once I buy the plot, do I still need to buy one of the housing permits, and, if so, how does that work? Break it down for me step by step on how I get a plot of land with my Carbuncle house on it.

    Thanks for your time!

Yes, you need to buy a housing permit.

    Buy land
    Buy permit
    Apply new (Carbuncle) exterior furnishing

This. To expand on it a bit, the carbuncle house has to be applied in the house as an exterior fixture. The menu to edit this isn't available until the house has been built on the plot.

To add on to what dusty popoto said, the carbuncle skin (and all other special housing skin) are an all-or-nothing option, you can't mix and match them. Figured you might already know this but just in case. :x

Just a quick tip along the same vein-

Be sure to check the Market Board for permits, as you can often times find them much cheaper than the NPC who sells them. Just be sure to get the right size/district for your plot, and it won't matter which kind (stone, wood, or composite) since you plan to change it immediately anyway. It could save you a few hundred thousand.
