Yeah sure rocket science, if they paid $18 to transfer or start over from scratch.

You mean like the two players who bought housing did? You know, at least 8 times a piece, since they transferred and created alts that had to get to 50 etc? Super simple stuff.
Sorry not everyone wants to easily hand out their extra money to SE for a chance to get a home on a low pop server. Free transfers was enough to get people to jump, and which brought this to attention. Not so simple if you don't want to lose contacts, don't want to put yourself into the content grind again, deal with a low supply marketboard, etc.
That's the decision you have to make. They chose to do it, others did not. They got the houses, others did not. Again, they worked for what they have, and they shouldn't get jerked around because other people who haven't put in the effort want what they have. They decided it was worth their time and effort to transfer, content grind, deal with the market, etc. So they have the houses.
Yeah or SE could try and implement a better housing system because the one they have is not working since 2.1 but will they? probably not. People shouldn't be forced to pay for a transfer or start new if they want into the housing content lol. I would not say it's okay when other MMO' can provide while FFXIV barely cannot but it's neat to see how people can defend the current housing flaws.
That's not what I'm defending. SE making a better housing situation would absolutely be the best. I'm defending the two players who are getting bitched at for no good reason. If SE had implemented housing like many other games, this wouldn't be an issue, but we have the current method, and the players should not be attacked or berated because of it.
As I see it the players are not to blame at all. They did this perfectly with in the rules set by Square. It is 1 FC house, 1 personal house, etc per character. 8 different characters can have any combination there of with in the rules. They are also not just sitting on them. They are actually using them. That is a lot more than I can say about my neighbors in the Mist. I for one moved from Gilgamesh to here. I paid the movinf fee. Could you imagine what could have happened if I had the gil like some people on Gilgamesh have? I could have done the same thing as the people did. I didn't because a) did not have the gil and b) personally see no reason to have more then one piece of land. But, because it is set up the way it is I could have and I see no issue with ir so long as you are using the property.
I pity these two people - moved to Mateus "before it was cool", spending their time and money for the server move, countless hours and resources poured onto alts and furnishing items, and now they're being harassed - not for abusing the system (because this they did not do - one house per character is what the system dictates, and what they have), but for making use of it while there were whole wards that had gone ignored for years.
You people had the time to get there before the rush and get yourself a house - as did those two, except thei DID use the chance and made the best of it. It's not really their fault that SE opened the floodgates from other servers onto a few less-populated ones, and it certainly isn't their fault that SE has a mess of a housing system.
I would have an actual issue with this if:
-You had no other housing options (you do. FC rooms, apartments, waiting for unused houses to go up for sale, etc... both have had their furniture cap DOUBLED, so you got plenty room to let your imagination go places with this)
-Housing was a necessity rather than a comodity (it is not. Menders, merchants... most of these are available outside housing
But come on, now. These people went there when NO ONE else was using the wntire damn ward, bought the houses, leveled alts, build hundreds of furniture items over time - and what, you expect them to give all this up because all of a sudden Mateus is a high pop server?
Call it selfishness or whatever the heck you want, but if I had gone through this much trouble to build up an entire ward to my liking, I would not give up on it, either.
tl;dr - these players are not to blame for SE's failure in providing enough housing for the existing playerbase - your frustration is understandable, but misplaced, and demanding these people give up on what they built over years is not really going to fix anything. In the grand scheme of things? You'd be gaining 26 houses (24 if both of them made an FC and an FC house)... not exactly a "fix" to Mateu's new housing problem borne of its sudden drastic increase in population.

It's laughably sad that people defend these actions because it's a video game, but if the same concepts were applied in real life they'd be enraged and disgusted. Must truly be a different world for the simple-minded.
??? People in real life (who have the funds to do so) do this kind of stuff all the time what on earth are you talking about?
