Is queue time just a part of the normal game now?

I fully understand high login queue times at launch, but it's been a week now. And queues on Balmung have gotten worse. At prime time it's taking some of my friends 4+ hours to just log in. And if there's a disconnect, that's game over for the day.

Even during the day, you can get stuck in a 100ish person queue for an hour because everyone just tries to leave their character logged in talking to an npc.

Is this just going to be a normal part of FFXIV for the next month+?

Also, before anyone says "Well you're on Balmung." I've been on Balmung since launch. I didn't transfer here once it started getting packed. And the queue issues could have been solved ahead of time by limiting character transfers to Balmung a year ago. Or charging a premium to get on "full" servers, and using that money to invest in a higher server load.

Wait until at least a month has passed so that people have time to finish/burnout/quit.

I think it'll slowly start to go down. It only officially released on tuesday.

Well I'm on Balmung and have been since 2.55 and its never been as bad as this. Good thing is that more life for the game, but I may need to transfer to Mateaus or Courel its a free transfer anyways.

I think Behemoth is the third largest server. Queues felt back to normal for DPS for me.

Nope, quite a few are above it. On our datacenter, Leviathan is worse.

Also, the thread isn't about duty queues. It's about login queues.

Let's say it dies down in a month. SE releases update with first raid, new gathering stuff, etc. Everyone comes back.
Queues are at 4000 / 4+ hours again.

It depend on how full your server is. Give it some weeks until it is like 2 days before a main patch.

Because of the hype for RDM/SAM, the early roadblocks, the DDOS and other stuff...
Things are still messy but around 1pm to 12am is where Q times are outrageous. This EA/launch is worse than HW and people
are finally getting passed the initial hiccup, now it's the weekend and people are able to play a bit longer since errors have dimmed down a bit.
I say a bit, because there are still errors...but not as frequent.
When new patch comes, I doubt it would that bad. It's just "new game/expac" feel right now
so everyones jumpin' in.

Yeah I'm out for a few months if I still can't get on until 11-pm every night in a week or so when my sub is due for renewal. (Cerberus.)
