Can we please get a tail toggle for our Miqo'te and Au Ra characters? I and many other players would love this and it would be a very welcome and considerably easy to implement addition to our character settings.
When I see my character's tail clipping through robes or the metal plating on the back of a chestpiece it bothers me too much to be able to enjoy glamouring it - so I don't - and I know there are other players who are the same. It makes some glamour options far less enjoyable to those of us it bothers than players of other races, and it would be awesome to be rid of this issue!
With Stormblood a great amount of new glamours will be available to choose from. So I think it is an opportune and time to prudently bring this up!
"SE uses a system called the "parts" system so they can make one model, and then turn off/on parts of it to create multiple monsters and items using that single model (they also used this in 1.0 for "breaking" parts)."
This parts system is demonstrable by a gear piece that actually does hide the tail on Miqo'te, the "Chimerical Felt Coat of Casting". The toggle itself would be just another button like the sheathed weapon, headpiece and visor toggles. All as shown in this image:
The main purpose of this image is to show that hiding the tail is already within the game's capabilities. The so called "tail pocket" for that chestpiece looks terrible though, and if we were to get the toggle, I would hope it would turn that off too. XD Please no more "tail pockets"!
Here is a display of gear examples which I personally would use the toggle for if it were added. There is many, many others:
A Q&A for the people who don't understand this request and/or are "against" it:
Q: "Why do you hate your tail?"
A: No Miqo'te or Au Ra player "hates" their tail. I personally love my tail but I hate when it clips with gear!
Q: "Why do you want to just be a Hyur with cat ears?"
A: None of the players who want this toggle "just want to be a Hyur with cat ears". Even without the tail the Miqo'te are very different in appearance to Hyurs.
Q: "Why don't you play a race without a tail?"
A: This is not a solution to the players who want this. But a tail toggle is. We don't want to play another race and we're not going to over this. I want to play my favourite race, the Miqo'te - and to just be able to hide the tail *when* clipping is bothering me with the gear I'm wearing - not the entire time. (And if a player chooses to hide it the entire time and play a tailless Miqo'te or Au Ra, which in their headcanon their character could be for a variety of reasons, there is nothing wrong with that.)
Q: "Why don't SE just remove the clipping from all the gear pieces that clip already and not make anymore gear that clips?"
A: Both of these ideas are impractical. Both would be far more cumbersome than just implementing the toggle. The first would take a lot of redesign work for Square Enix to do and that would take away from them working on new designs. The second would be quite creatively limiting for Square Enix to have them worry about the tail clipping when working on their new designs. The tail toggle would be a far easier and simpler solution to eliminate the clipping problem universally with Square Enix never having to worry about it again.
Q: "I still don't understand the reason for wanting this toggle? / I'm against this being implemented."
A: If the above has not made you understand then nothing will. I don't understand why you want to take a stance that you are "against" more options like this being available to other players, especially an easy to implement option like this which would only harmlessly allow the Miqo'te and Au Ra players to better enjoy certain pieces of gear. But thanks for your input anyway!
So to all my other Miqo'te and Au Ra players who want this, please speak up and show the devs how much we want this toggle so those of us with clipping OCD can enjoy all our gear options as much as everyone else!![]()
