    Only one dungeon in odd numbered patches

    Interesting bit of information that was brought up in MrHappy's podcast. Apparently, dungeons will be reduced to one in odd numbered patches due to additional content. My best guess is PotD's overall success for speed leveling has made the devs see dungeons as redundant. Either way, this could be good if PotD gets more mechanics to it or this supposed "brand new, never before seen," content pans out.

    As far timing of patches post Stormblood goes Yoshi-P said they plan to keep the 3 – 3½ month cadence they have currently been doing. He said it seems to be a good rhythm for the players which keeps them from either feeling like they run out of things to do too quickly or feel overwhelmed with content. It is also a good cycle for the developers because they can consistently put out high quality content without killing themselves. The current plan for what these patches will contain is odd numbered patches will have one dungeon and some other new content while even numbered patches will have two new dungeons and QOL improvements.

    so expert roulette on those patches is going to be just one dungeon awesome (hopefully they just add it to the 2 previous ones from the even patches lol).

    I'll wait to see how roulettes are affected before I post my opinion, but I thought 2 dungeons per patch was even worse than the 3 per patch from ARR. Hopefully we're not going from Expert roulette to Expert coin toss, to Expert Edgar's coin toss.

    Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse than Duty Coin Flip: Expert.

    I jest; if they were smart they'd just add the third dungeon to the existing roulette with every 2 patches, and I expect that's what they'll do assuming we're still going to have the same duty roulette system at all. To be honest though, they should already have been doing that with HW just to stop all the "coin flip" snarks in the first place.

    Wasn't that what they were thinking with the first reduction of the released dungeons when they were talking about diadem?

    We all know how well that turned out.

    Stale roulette queues and an agonizing new gameplay type that was so unfun that it had to be taken down and redesigned.

    "maybe if we stop making dungeons all together we'll finally be able to make something new AND fun!" -SE in 5.0 maybe.

    I'm not sure how gear drops will work, but as long as this works out to three dungeons in the EX roulette, it's not a half-bad way to go. So even patch = Two dungeons, odd patch = one new dungeon added to Ex roulette, even patch = earliest two dungeons replaced with two new to still add up to three total, should be the flow.

    Agreed. I didn't intend for this to be White Mage doom and gloom. If they focus on say, making PotD more dynamic and appealing, I'm totally fine with this. Floors 101 are actually quite fun and I'd love to see more work done with it.
