Reporting Issues Resulting from the North American Data Center Relocation

Thank you for all the feedback regarding the North American Data Center move so far!

We understand that stable access and responsiveness are very important for enjoying your time spent in FINAL FANTASY XIV. We'll be doing our best to alleviate specific ISP-related issues or routing problems to ensure that your gameplay experience is positive. To achieve this, we'd like to gather feedback specifically from users encountering any issues related to the data center move in this thread so that we can investigate.

Please note that this thread is for players accessing the NA Data Center.

In order to assist us in investigating these concerns as efficiently as possible, please keep all comments in this thread specific to problems you may be encountering post NA Data Center move (taking place after May 17th, 2017).

    How To Report Your Concern:
When reporting your issue in this thread, please make sure to provide the following information.
    • Type of Issue/Feedback: (What type of issue are you encountering? Be as detailed as possible!)
    • Name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP):
    • State/Country:
    • Date/Time: (When did the issue start happening, at what specific times does this issue arise, if any.)
    • World Name:
    • Frequency: (How often does the issue occur?)
    • Traceroute records (optional) (Learn how to generate traceroute record)

    We greatly appreciate your assistance!

    Hello,

    - Ping goes up from 180ms before migration, to 300ms after migration.
    - Movistar (Telefónica).
    - Santiago, Chile.
    - Brynhildr.
    - Since migration of NA datacenters. Constant and so far no fluctuations.
    - Tracert before migration
    - Tracert post migration

Quick observation: This is happening in all South America with ISPs related to the company named Telefónica in South America and Spain. Tracert hops pre and post migration leads to Spain, the difference now on the +120ms average is the jumps it now makes on Spain, France, Spain, Netherlands. All of em with ms increment. Pre migration it was only Spain and with no ms increment hops inside this country.

    Thank you.

Unlikely that this is indicative of any issues since higher ping is to be expected from the EU now, but no harm in providing feedback.

Ticket or reference number from your ISP: None. They just took note of the problem and said they will look after. But other friends with others ISP have better connection than me in the same state. I'm taking route to Amsterdan while trying to reach Sacramento. Using VPN my ping went to the same old value, 190ms.
    State/Country: Rio de Janeiro - RJ/Brazil
Date/Time: Started May 17, 2017 after the server move.
Frequency: Latency issues all the time. Was 190ms befere the move and now I have 290~320ms.
    Content: All kind of duties.
Which in-game World were you playing on when the issue occurred? Behemoth

Type of Issue/Feedback: Without VPN/GPN: Ping increased from 40 MS to 130 MS, with spikes upwards to 180 MS. 3 dropped packets in a 30 minute period. Packet Loss occurred between 204.2.229.234 both outgoing, and incoming.

My ping to an EU server is in some cases more viable then it is to California. (120 MS)

Utilizing a 3rd party application (I.E.) WTFast I can get a solid 90-100 MS ping without spikes.

Effects ability to weave rotations and raiding that did not exists prior to the server change. Primarily, Ninja, Machinist.

I will need to pay an estimated $30 a year additional to play at the same level of gameplay that I would honestly rather use towards the game, not another service.

    Latency Report

Type of Issue/Feedback: Latency/Lag after server relocation
Name of your Internet Service Provider (ISP): Verizon (Fios)
    State/Country: Virginia, United States
Date/Time: Since after the server relocation, had little issues with latency/lag before then
    World Name: Leviathan
Frequency: Intermittent, almost always a major spike within instanced dungeons/instanced content. No specific time of day, however.

    Traceroute Record

Been having trouble in general with the second to last hop, 204.2.229.234

    WinMTR Results

This was recorded over the course of an hour during regular play, including an instanced dungeon. The packet loss in this case was minor, but still higher than it should be. I did encounter minor latency during the instanced content. I do not currently have a log, but I previously experienced severe (upwards of 10%) packet loss with the 204.2.229.234 IP as well. This severe loss occurred directly after the servers came back online. First I was 90k'd and kicked from the server. When I returned, I experienced lag that lasted for about a minute. My GCDs were activating and my spells were casting, but no healing was taking place. My party members seemed to move as well, and their HP dropped as usual. After about a minute, I was booted from the server once more.

Ping went from 45ms to 100ms
    ISP: Comcast
    State: Pennsylvania, USA
Always occurs. Packet loss is gone but ping more than doubled.

    Hello!

    - Ping goes up from 190-200ms before migration, to 290-300ms after migration.
    - ISP is Movistar (Telefónica).
    - From Concepcion, Chile.
    - Playing in Faerie server
    - Since migration of NA datacenters. It hasn't change till then.
    - Tracert

Observation: As you may see in other posts, this is a South America problem with ISPs of the Telefónica Company. Tracert goes to amsterdam before going to US server.

Thanks, I hope you can solve this issue for us.
