    LTW skill help please

    Getting to the point where bar is getting full with skills. Lvl 53 cant seem to understand many of the skills other than the basic stuff like restores durability by X. The earth affinity thing never shows up on anything...inner quite seems expensive to use...and do nothing for one step? Got it gets confusing is there any type of guide that makes sense of all this? Any help would be appreciated.

    I also would have pointed you to Caimie's guide. Read it around when i got my first crafter to 50, and it really helped me figure the rest out.

    Dude you got to level 53 without using Inner Quiet? You are going to be so amazed at how much easier your life could have been for, like, half of that at least, if you can get a good grasp on what you could be capable of.

    Re: Brand of Earth (or any Brand), in my experience up to 50, mostly only ever shows up on "Vintage" type equipment, crafts where you're taking some broken junk equipment maybe picked up from a dungeon or leve, and turning it into something half useful.

    Yeah, it also amazes me that someone would be level 53 without even using Inner Quiet... Maybe this very old link will also help Renius:

    I'm gonna take a guess and think maybe what happened was OP didn't do much HQ crafting? "Inner quiet seems expensive" so maybe didn't spend much CP on Touch moves. I know in my early days I had a similar sentiment, I never had enough CP/durability to really get the IQ stacks up to an appreciable amount. It took a significant shift in my approach around level 30 to really start making use of what I had available. Also wonder if LTW is the only crafter OP has focused up, could contribute to an incomplete tool kit.

    All of this is correct. Question is how do I take full advantage of these abilities? CP is only at 305 at the moment and wasting it is horrible. Just last nite though I figured that when a recipe fails you don't really lose the items, just the recipe fails.

    Well if he wasn't using standard touch or advance touch and has no access to hasty touch then inner quiet is a waste without landing 6 or more basic touches. I don't see him landing more than 6 basic touches no way....

    For those confused. Inner quiet grants 20% bonus in control AFTER a successful touch which means at a cost of 18cp to activate you'd need 6 successful basic touches JUST to break EVEN on quality as if you hit 7 basics touches (no iq). Since no BB...he would not be plus until he hit that 7th basic touch while under the effect of IQ (total of 144 cp)

    Note: another perk of IQ even though you don't have hasty touch or BB is it saves on durability!! I just realize you're 53 so you have precise touch which is basically an OP proc (arguably the single best skill added since heavens. But it only benefits with IQ)

    EDIT

    Bad math!! Yes IQ gives bonus of 20% of your control per successful touch; however in crossed out scenario above you would ONLY need 3 basics touches under Inner Quiet buff to reap the benefits using IQ.
    Here are the numbers:
    your control linearly correlates to your touch quality so a 20% increase in control translate to a 20% in your touch of choice

    scenario 1: NO IQ; control = base; 3 basic touches; 3 steps;total quality 300%; 54 cp used
    scenario 2: IQ active; control=base
    step 1: IQ (18 cp);
    step 2: basic touch (100% quality, 18 cp, grants bonus after)
    step 3: basic touch (120% quality, 18 cp, grants bonus after)
    step 4: basic touch (140% quality, 18 cp, grants bonus after)
    end of scenario 2: IQ active; control=140%*base; 3 basic touches; 4 steps; total quality 360%; 72 cp used.

    NOw comparing the two scenarios:

    in terms of durability-steps taken the second scenario has better quality progress for the same amount of durability-steps;

    but in terms of quality/cp!! the first scenario is still plus over that of the second. the quality/cp will not reserve between the two scenarios until 4th touch! So optimally IQ isn't a win-win-win (quality-cp-durability) until the 4th successful touch (IQ, touch1, touch2, touch3, touch4, ...)

    moral of the story instead of 6 touches IQ is plus after 4 touches!

    Ltw is the worst utility crafting class to solo to 60 (assuming you're not stopping to get cross class abilites. [If nothing else get hasty touch from cul at lvl 15!! Too ez]).

    You won't be using brand much and the specialist abilities do not cover much of the gaps LTW has utility-wise. Waste not 1 is decent! Waste not ll....... even with the advent of precise touch is often inflexible....and those the only skills LTW has.....besides brand....

    You might not be interested in lvling several crafting class but if you had to only take 1 to 60 with lil to no cross class abilites take CUL. CUL is the most well rounded crafting class and cheap!! And ppl always eating food (food is always always always selling).
