    Captain Obvious reporting in

At this very moment, I am a shining example why you should not post while sleep deprived.

As we all discuss the current events, issues, praise, future, and past of FFXIV, sometimes we can get a little heated. We also pull things from our asses and twist the point around until it makes perfect sense in our points of view.

Now, just because I am the one bringing this up doesn't mean I'm innocent. Many of us, myself included, tend to produce copious fallacies (Please turn your attention here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies) in our arguments. We point fingers and compare things, list this and that, and in the end the argument on both sides begins to make little sense and becomes one with the void.

The thing is, one cannot find what the majority wants without a method of voting. And further, and voting done here is a sample from the population that has no controls what-so-ever and is done through a "like" button. So many question the validity of any "majority opinion" around here.

We're all just blindly waving our arms around wishing for our opinions to be heard and to be validated by others. You may respond now denying such but in truth, you want the "fact" that you don't desire to be validated, well, validated.

I'll say again, I'm not innocent in any of this. I mean, look at what I'm doing now. Typing this, and so far I might have wasted a minute of your time. What happens now? Like I care, I'm going to sleep! Heck, I'm half asleep right now. Someone will close this thread eventually.

Oh, and is any of this sounding exceedingly obvious? See thread title. Good night!

I don't deny that I wish to be validated.

In fact, I dare any of you out there to validate me for no particular reason at all!

Senseless validation! That's what the world needs!

Here's a good read for most people arguing things on this board: http://www.cracked.com/article_19468...you-think.html

Probably won't change the arguing habits of some of the more notorious people on this board though, as per #1 on that list.

This is a great post. I hope a few take the time to read it.

Also if I may add let's not forget that thinking of the majority leads to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utilitarianism

which is a perfectly flawed ethical principle. Read that page to find out why.

Actually, before people get enamored with Mr. Mills, utilitarianism is probably the worst ethical model ever. While people think it sounds great such a concept actually supports the Tuskagee experiements, the holocaust, and another season of Full House.

I know Neptune is pointing that out but people almost immediately hear the base concept of "maximize overall utility" and think how wonderful it is.

FFXIV should probably go the moral route of Kroeger-Mappes and use feminism in how they decide to proceed.
