You can also make an alt on the server you are transferring to and compare prices on that market board vs yours. Try to buy several types of in demand items from your server that will sell for a relative good price on the target server. You will lose some money to taxes, and possibly market changes but you won't need a middle man to transfer your gil. If this is what you are doing then you may or may not want to wait until after the patch hits depending on how fast your target server's market moves. Good luck getting your own home!
