Explain Strength, Please help

Hello all well just making a quick question about STR , for example im a Lancer 50 and i have a +0 Hart Guisarme and i have ("naked") Atack Power 487 and STR 233 , but when i equip my +0 Hart Guisarme with DOUBLE STR Materia wich Adds +33 STR (STR 266) , the Atack Power stays the same.. why is that?

it's been explained by bahyonne, in this game the formula isn't str = attack power.
alas, stacking only str it's futile

strength increases the amount of damage that is possible for an attack, attack actually inreases the power.

If you think of it as a bottle of water and water is the amount of damage.
with base strength and base attack you have a 0.5 l bottle of water and the bottle is full to the brim. so you do consistant alright damage.

If you increase str by alot and dont increase attack, you now have a 1 l bottle of water but you still only have 0.5 l of water in it so the attack damage is still the same.

If you increase str and attack but not as much as you tried putting everything into str, you will have a 0.75 l bottle of water and it full the the brim meaning your attack power has increased consistantly.

^ Confusing as hell, and a little misleading.

STR has no direct effect on ATK Power. STR increase the damage curve of your base attack. Attack Power increases your base attacks ceiling.

Example:

Lets say you have 200 STR, and your regular attack hits anywhere from 50-62, if you add STR to that what would happen is your base attack would be 55-62. By adding just Attack power you'd hit for 50-70.

This is why adding both STR & Attack Power make sense as the combination of the two would not only increase your base attack, but the base attacks ceiling.

(All numbers are fictional and do not represent actual damage of having 200 STR)

Yet here you are making an assumption with nothing to back up your opinion, yet it's stated as fact.

well actually the information given was off the words of the developers, so i took it as fact, as one would assume the people who made the game to be correct.
