This is only true because people are sheep and think they have to be on the same page as everyone else in a game. They don't think it's okay to not be at the same spot as other people. If people slowed down and took their time, all of the content might be more enjoyable.

The game promotes this mindset by tying the game's story to content. In order to get the most out of the game, you basically have to burn your way to level 60 first because of all the unlocks available at 60. The faster you get there, the faster you can prepare for the end game. If you do it fast enough, you might be able to collect enough tomestones to actually participate in the Savage raids before the next patch. Then, you start farming equipment until you can do the level 60 dungeons. From there, you farm until you can do the level 60 end game raids and dungeons. This design makes the lower end dungeons worthless and nearly all the items you earn along the way disposable with the exception of a few glamour items. Sadly, nearly every MMO out there does this and is fundamentally a design problem because equipment is designed to be replaced by next patch. There's not much to offer end game wise since Zodiac/Anima weapons have an absurd barrier to entry, raids have arbitrary drop and farm restrictions, and other things like FATEs are unpredictable and not worth the time investment for most people to sit around and wait for.

People are sheep because they want to enjoy the expansion that they paid money for, rather than fuck around doing pointless story quests that give nothing to your character, and are mostly just running around doing meaningless tasks for random people. Alright then...

It's tough to enjoy when you have to sit around and wait for Duty Finder to find you a group for a Trial. My record is still close to 70 minutes as a DPS class like two months before Heavensward.
