Early Pulling - Is it wrong?

I'm probably gonna get some heat for this, and I don't mean to stir anything up in the event it does, but this is something that has been on my mind for quite some time. Early pulling in hunts. Is it bad? Is it wrong?

I'm curious to know how the community feels on this, because at least on Balmung; a lot of people despise early pullers. Yet to my known knowledge, this is not against the game rules. However some players will black list 'early pullers' and even go as far as contacting their FC leaders to report the individuals.

What exactly is early pulling? Pulling when you arrive? Pulling when your party gets there? Pulling within 3mins after it was called?

How long should you actually wait before pulling?
On a server as large as Balmung, you could wait five mins and there will always be somebody still on their way. There have been times I've seen hunts up for five and ten mins before pulled, and someone would still complain that it was early pulled.

If early pulling is indeed truly nothing to get butt hurt over. I fear that with the new report system, a lot of players will get reported and thrown into jail simply for being called out on pulling a hunt.

Let's discuss. How do early pullers make you feel? How do you approach the situation? How does the situation even make you feel? Do you even care?

Not only is it not wrong, but it doesn't exist. Literally no such thing as early pulling.

The only things reportable in hunts is resetting to grief others or calling out who you think "early pulled".

Nothing wrong with pulling it as soon as you get there. You do not have to wait for people. First come first served. No such thing as early pulling in hunts.

Anything I would have wanted to say has already been covered by the first two responses.

I really can't see this jail thing going so well if it's actually just X reports = instant jail. Hopefully it's just X reports = higher priority to be reviewed = jail if needed, etc. Dunno if the latter would really be much of an improvement, but I can't see the former not ending in really inconvenient troll attempts. Though this does raise the question of if the GMs will consider "early pulling" harassment or w/e.

Like others have said already there is no such thing as 'early' pulling. No one has the right to force everyone else to wait for them to arrive. There is such a thing as being inconsiderate but that is not against the rules, you wont get in trouble with SE just because you didn't wait for player number <insert random number> to arrive.

What is against the rules is trolling by way of resetting over and over to cause harassment and grief, same with harassment through /tells and shaming people through /shouts etc just because they never waited for you to turn up. There is no specific time limit need to wait either since there will never be complete consensus on such a thing regardless of whether it's 1 minute, 5 minutes or 10 minutes...a person who arrives after 15 minutes will still complain even if waited 10 instead of 5 and someone who arrives after 30 minutes will still complain if waited for a full 25 minutes etc.

I was mining and saw a couple people yelling at people for "early pulling" the other day and, despite not being part of the hunt, jumped in to defend the other guys.

There is no such thing as early pulling. Someone will ALWAYS still be "on their way" and people aren't entitled to every hunt.

People whine when someone says "what, do you expect us to wait for the whole server?" But it is true, when people whine about early pullers it is pretty much what they are saying, or at least they are saying "wait until I get there but screw anyone else"

The first people who have discovered the Hunt boss first, how long do people expect them to wait for them all to arrive? A lot of late-comers whine about early pullers when they never think about how long the first people have actually been waiting.

Early pulling in 24 man raids is irritating however. Why are there DPS that need to pull the boss for the tank or the tank being pressured to pull early because of his shitty teammates? There is no reason for people to early pull bosses in 24 man raids imo.

There's no rules you can break but there is something to be said about common courtesy.

Sure it's not a technical term listed by Square-Enix in the User's Manual, but 'early-pulling' does have a meta meaning among the player base. In general it's polite to wait the same amount of time that it takes to get from the nearest Aetheryte Crystal to the Hunt in question. So usually about 60 seconds from the moment the Hunt is found. Some Hunt parties are spread out into multiple zones trying to find these Hunts for you. Not giving these people enough time to even teleport into the zone and fly to the mob is considered "early-pulling" and shunned upon; especially by the people actually putting in the effort to look for them.

And thus a new patch cycle appears and people figure out that Hunts will be the fastest way to finish new content. Sharing these Hunts with multiple Hunting parties by waiting 60 seconds after finding one is a win for everyone involved. Hurray for teamwork! *lightning bolt* The dreaded 4pm strikes as a troubled child get's home from prison school. Tossing his homework into the garbage he turns on a third party program, and begins to facepull everything that he didn't find himself. The heated angry /shouts begin as even the dedicated Hunters aren't given enough time to even get a Shield Lob off. [I happily /blacklist these types of impatient / selfish people. They sure aren't a personality I would want to play with.]

There are some notable exceptions however:

    - If two Hunts spawn at that same time people are afraid of missing one so they'll pull as fast as possible so they have enough time to get to both.

    - If you play on a PS3 without an SSD, and have 50 second load times between zones, then you probably won't make it to many of these Hunts and it's not the fault of an early puller.
