YoshiP No more Region Exclusive Items, Please.

To date, various regional versions of Final Fantasy 14 have gotten exclusive items, while other regional versions, namely NA and EU (this includes AUS as well), have never had such a pleasure. I am aware NA and EU Fanfests have gotten exclusive minions but those are obtainable by other regions for purchasing the respective streams.

With much support and feedback coming from the community some of these items have been made accessible to other regions. That's a great step in a good direction especially since Yoshi-P asked us give him feedback regarding our desires to see exclusive items become mutually inclusive.

Unfortunately there are still several sets of items that remain locked behind regions, but hope gets brighter every day that we'll continue to see these items come to our version of the game. Ideally I would love to see the whole concept of region exclusives come to an end, though I do understand the business practices behind them.

Now, does not having these items affect my ability to play the game? Certainly not. They are, at the end of the day, just pixels. However, I do find a certain level of annoyance in seeing such lovely, beautiful items be left out of our version of the game. I am more than certain they would be well liked here. Because of this I truly do advocate for NA/EU/JP servers to see a more frequent distribution of these region exclusives.

So please YoshiP, Developers, Marketing, Square Enix, I ask for you to kindly reconsider this idea of exclusive items. Even if you don’t stop doing them in general, at least make them accessible to other regions in different ways, it truly would be appreciated.

4/26/17: A note about the 2016 (Butler and Maid) and 2017 (Sun Wukong) "DLC" items.

There's been a lot of talk regarding the North American and Japanese promotional campaigns. We are working to setup campaigns in PAL regions with the new in-game items. They will also be available for purchase on the Mog Station at a later date. We will share more information as soon as it becomes available.

Please note that the North American and Japanese item codes won’t work on EU accounts.

It would appear as if they are working to put these straight into the Mog Station at some point in time. Once they are released there I will update the post and move them to the appropriate list. For now, those waiting to get these items with EU accounts, hang in there! The Devs hear you.

While I can’t speak for everyone else here, I can speak for myself. I am not asking for these items because I have any sense of feeling like I deserve them. I am providing the feedback that was asked for during the live letter, showing the development team that I would like to have them.

Region-locked items are usually made to give players an incentive to play the game. I don't know the situation for the Chinese and Korean servers, but it's definitely much different than here, so I don't think they're gonna stop.

Instead of wanting them to stop completely, maybe we should push harder to have them implemented on our servers after a certain time.

Now, amidst the outcry from the community, some of these items have been made accessible to other regions. We received the Panda and the Magpie in the Mogshop and Square Enix partnered with Amazon to bring NA the JPN exclusive items with a promise to the EU community that such a promotion would come their way soon as well.

However, despite requests from Yoshi-P to give him feedback regarding our desires to see exclusive items become mutually inclusive, there are still several that remain locked behind regions. There have even been threads before this one with over a hundred replies, like the one found here, but no official response on when, or if, we’ll be getting the rest of the items.

And, to make matters more frustrating as of 6/17/2016 they have announced even more exclusive items for Chinese version of the game, leaving other regions without a single exclusive item to have ever been given to them.

Does this affect my ability to play the game? Certainly not. They are, at the end of the day, just pixels but it does affect my enjoyment of the game to a certain extent. I may be North American but my heritage is certainly from more than just this region and I would find great enjoyment in being able to celebrate my mixed ancestry with some of these items, especially ones that touch on mythos near and dear to my heart.

So please YoshiP, Developers, Marketing, Square Enix, I ask for you to kindly reconsider this idea of exclusive items. Even if you don’t stop doing them in general, at least make them accessible to other regions in different ways, it truly would be appreciated.

To be fair, China and Korea got those items because their government censors refused some outfits from the rest of the games. It was the Thanaverian ones I think but don't quote me. So to be "fair" it seems unfair to them if you ask me. Those outfits are neat, but it would be unfair if we got that too. IMHO.

I don't think SE has any control over the exclusives that the Chinese and Korean versions of the game release for their versions. They are localized by other companies who bought the rights to market the game to their region. SE could talk to them about using their items but might even have to pay them to use content they designed.

This is just an educated guess though and I could be wrong but I feel like this might be the case.

I personally would love the Chinese and Korean glamour items but maybe they have to negotiate with those companies in order to release them to NA/EU/JP so it takes them some time to release it for other regions. They said they might look into it if a lot of players wanted them and they added the minions so maybe the glamours are also coming eventually.

Maybe we should stop playing so much so the dev team can give the NA/EU community exclusive items too. Lets support the game less to get more, seems to be working for the other regions.

Just wanted to inform you that your link doesn't work ^^; You might want to add in the missing pieces of the image link.

Also, they have said that they're considering/planning on making at least some of the Chinese and/or Korean items available to the rest of us (it's been a little while, so I don't remember exactly what was said). But since those items were created by different companies (i.e. the ones controlling the Chinese and Korean versions of the game), it's going to take some time for them to negotiate regarding said items. Since the Panda and Magpie minions were as far as I can tell simple reskins of previous minions -- Nana Bear and Bluebird -- I assume that's why those are already available. The others are completely new designs, which kinda makes it very different.

Well, I don't play this game to get some free/unique items. I'd rather have their efforts spent on new GAME content. Housing, dungeons, raids, equips, invo. I am about to consider paying for a retainer because I just began crafting on several classes, and unless I start throwing away the equip I've saved for glamouring (and for leveling my current classes) I just have no where to store it (and believe me, I got rid of half my things just a couple of weeks ago).

There are still barriers, legal barries, language barriers, etc, so we can't just magically be given everything other regions get. Some of these items, like the 7-eleven items were part of a marketing effort.
Perhaps they still believe that simply wouldn't work here (and there's the matter of people abusing the amazon promo, but that's another topic).
Plus if what some people said here, that China didn't get some items because of government censorship, then it's fair they get something else. Why is everyone here so entitled?
"Let's stop paying so we get exclusive items!" Why don't we stop paying so we get some actual GAME issues addressed?

Thank you for the heads up about the link, I've went and fixed it.

While I understand the idea that region locked items are meant as incentive to play the game, how does that factor in with other regions? JPN has a huge, huge amount of people playing FFXIV and even they got their own region locked items, which, yes, were eventually brought over but bring them to other regions was very much an after thought.

I could see the issue witht he exlusive items being part of a deal with the companies running them in China and Korea, but if that were part of the problem, why then would YoshiP ask us to give feedback regarding getting these items in other regions. And, further speculation on my part, would it really be an issue when it's clear that SE is the one that owns the assets for this art since they are the once producing it?

Am I the only one who couldn't give a damn about Region Exclusives? I mean exclusives are supposed to be exactly that... Exclusive.

Don't know why peope feel so entitled to something just because they want it and are jealous. The world isn't going to end because you can't get a few glamour items.
