    Some Positivity...

First let me start of by saying, I love you all. I really do.

    Even when you rage at me because I let you die in PVP! ^^;

Why? Because I'm grateful to have people to play this game with, friend or foe. If you know me, you would know I always make parties for PVE by using the player search, before I use the PF or DF. Ya'know... Old skool FFXI style. Because this way if I come across a really cool player, I can add them and be friends with them.
    \(^-^)/

So please take the time out to read this, I think you all could do with some kind words from time to time.

    The Forum...

Like it or not “We are a family”. One thing we need to learn to do is disagree with each other, yet still be friends and show you each other respect. The moment some of you disagree with each other, it's like you're immediately enemies. (Lol some times it's actually kinda cute) But then sometimes this leads to bans and suspensions... Ugh.. And if you haven't already caught onto my MO, I'm against losing any player here in any form or fashion. Right or wrong, high skill or low. In-game or on the forum. I want us all to stay. So when I see some of you getting banned left and right. I'm not happy about that at all. : (

So please stop getting each other banned and suspended for disagreeing with each other and taking it too far!

    >_____________<! - My face.

"But Etro~ THIS IS SPARTAAAA AND WE MUST FIGHT!" - You Guys.

No lol. No it's not, and we can get along just fine if we put the effort in. We are all mature enough to do this.

    The Dedication...

Some of you spend all your time on this game because it's something you love to do. I love that and will never put you down for it. We have some true talent here, in-game and out. Whether you are:
    • A natural at playing at high level.
    • An entertaining streamer
    • An artist who is able to create some great art. This has already been used to spice up some people's streams and more.
    • Some of you can make music which could be applied to videos that some of you already make.
    • Some of you have created websites where you can check and analyze your stats whenever you want!
    • Some of you are just down right too clever and intelligent on here.

Just watch I'll show you some of the awesomeness in all of you.

I could go on forever with some of these. The people I’ve met on Balmung and the streams alone, has just been amazing. I’m grateful to have met these people, and it's possible all because we have one thing in common. Get to know each other, combine your skills, do some amazing things that all relate and are inspired by your equal love for this game. Or Just be friends yo…

Most of you are probably like me. Just enjoy playing the game no strings attached. I only came out of my shell because I saw this community could and does have something to offer. All of your skills are valuable, we can have way more fun and build great things. The same things that you see every other community have. With the time, effort and money you are all putting into this game, you guys deserve great things too.

Some of you are putting in some serious hours on this game by playing and/or posting here on the forums. I respect that so much, you don't even know. But some threads is just like watching your little brothers and sisters fight over the last piece of cake lol.

    D’aww XD

I have seen a change in many of your attitudes though. I’m also seeing players come out of the woodworks, that have probably lurked for years like I have. And I'm happy about that, it motivates me to stay here and enjoy being part of something that is growing. ^^

    Coexistence...

Yea I know we don't always agree with each other. Sometimes I make posts just for the lurkers here. But this one definitely is for all of you.

Side note: We should make more use of Light Party. I mean how hard was it to make a premade for Seal Rock? Yet we was able to perform that feat. Right? We can still get 8 of our friends (from multiple Grand Companies) to party up and get some scrims in. How cool does that sound? A game with no noobs in it. You can even switch up the teams so you can balance the odds out a truly train with each other.

On top of that you might get some random teams queuing up too. And Bam! Before you know it you're all enjoying Light Party and Solo Q. We can do stuff like this guys. I mean how many of you are in a LinkShells with 8+ people Queuing for Solo Q at a time... I know I'm in a few.

    Ok I’m sidetracking here…

We need each other to fully enjoy this game. As I said “We are a family”. None of you/us are bad people. The game can be as fun, chilled, serious or depressing as you make it.

I'm writing this because this section of the forum needs it. To remind us why you came to the forums in the first place... It wasn’t for half of this.

TL;DR: Better scroll back up and read that.

Started noticing some of your positivity posts around here Jazz. Good on you for spreading the love.

I've been discussing the negatives quite a bit lately, but the positives far outweigh them. This is my favorite game ever and I've made a lot of friends here. Given time I can even forgive the bad people in the community, I don't harbor grudges forever.

I also really appreciate the work the FF XIV team are doing listening to feedback, communicating with us, doing their best to fix things with patches and weed out the cheaters.

This is good. I'm really happy to see an effort made to foster a more positive community (even in competition). As much as I often silently rage/revel behind the screen, in the end I'm always happy to meet good players with good attitudes. I'm even beginning to see friends in there (and thus, be honor-bound to crush them).

Keep up the positive vibes, people. And see you in the Pit <3

Somehow, this is exactly the kind of post I'd expect to see from someone on Balmung, lol.

I had a really positive thing happen today, I argued with a tank who told me I was bad, so next match it was vs him on the other team and I proceeded to do 232k damage and destroy their team. Was really feeling positive after that. I also waxed the floor with a low dps drg that was on my team then on the other team vs me twice in a row. Great times.

And I hope that's the end of that!

    Anywhoo~

Today about 1hr ago I started to invite new players to a private LS on Balmung. Strictly for people who are interested in The Feast, so i can go into light party with them all and learn/teach/experience the feast without the... you know. Anyway! We have a discord that mirrors the LS and a mini skype group as an alternative for communication. Anyone else who would like to join something like this and is also on Balmung. Please let me know.

    Send a /tell "Etro's Soul".

Then I will invite you to a discord channel and introduce myself and explain more, so you can get a feel for what this is all about. Takes about 2-5mins and no mic is required on your end.

We are @ 10 members Wohooo! Most of them have not even seen the inside of feast. XD

Rotokk, sorry you had to deal with this kind of stuff. I suspect these types of encounters and conversations are the reason pushing you to quit. It's quite unfortunate that what will end up happening is a player like yourself, who generally is very positive and has a lot to bring to the community will be leaving the scene, pushed out by caustic players who stay behind.

For those reading, what you're basically seeing is someone who's a great player, but an even better person online, about to move on. There will be a void. Obviously it's his choice so it's not like one can solely place blame on another individual, but think about the factors leading up to why he's going to quit, as mentioned here and in his other post. Realistically, yes, this is the kind of thing that does happen in any competitive scene, where things at stake cause people to really show their true colors, being nasty towards each other, and generally making for a bad environment. You'll never make it go away completely, but we can still do some things right.

Personally, for me, it's not so much that a guy doesn't play well, or he's making mistakes. It's that you have these caustic players who feel this gigantic sense of entitlement about what they deserve when most often they didn't do enough work to get to where the top players are. And most of the time it's these same players who lash out when some try to give advice, and it's their arrogance and ego that prevents them from actually absorbing constructive criticism, or in many cases, causes the team to fail. If i play with some inexperienced players, oh well, that's the name of the game. But when I try to let them know "hey next time you have to watch your stacks, can't pick up 10" and then they start going full on nuclear, that's when i get really pissed. That, to me, is one of the biggest things wrong with the community.

I can understand that a lot of these emotions are knee jerk, and sometimes difficult to deal with. I say a lot of things i know i shouldn't say as well. But if you know you're wrong about how you treat people, try as best you can to rein it in and contribute something positive, or helpful when you can. I know i can't hit on that 100% of the time, but at least i try. And if some of us can do better even a little bit, that'll be worth it.
