Housing is BROKEN. There will NEVER be enough plots the way it is now.

Know why? Because as long as the system works the way it does now, there's going to be a bunch of greedy twisted A-Holes buying multiple plots and controlling the housing market. How long do you want to bet it takes before there's no ishgardian plots after they release on the higher pop servers? My guess is a few days at the most, maybe less than that. I mean, there's entire groups of people working together to do this kind of crap. You don't think it's possible they are plotting their next move right now? Maybe a few more people that deserve a house will finally get one. Yet, there is still going to be people left out in the cold in the end, AGAIN.

So as much as i hope i'm wrong and would like to be optimistic, i'm just going to call this train wreck now. It's going to get worse, not better. Not unless a new system replaces what we have now and people can only own one personal house on a server shared across all characters on the account...

I managed to snatch an house on Christmas day, and I'm still here writing in agreement. What we had to go through was horrible, nobody should have to spend 14 hours straight staring at a monitor waiting for the moment an house will disappear, hoping to be faster than the other people camping for the same reason, for what is essentially a fluff feature.
What makes it worse is that I roamed Mist before and after Christmas and I saw pretty much the same thing: neglected houses, small and medium plots with barely a table and a chair in them, while there's so many people who would love to have a chance at decorating a place to call their home, but can't.

The system is flawed. The ward idea is nice, I really like having a neighborhood, but it doesn't work. If you can't make a system that can accommodate everybody either change it or don't implement it until it's ready to support the demand.

They've announced instanced housing I believe. They said they are making mansions (apartment type) with 512 rooms each. They also said they are finally releasing the often announced in room/house gardening.

An instanced room akin to a personal room at your FC's house is of no consolation to anyone who wants their own virtual house with a virtual yard with a physical location in a virtual neighborhood. If anything, it's worse.

It works fine, if you a) don't either completely botch the implementation or b) get so greedy/stingy with your profits that you're unwilling to do what it takes to invest back into your project.

Turbine uses the exact same housing system as SE - districts, wards (neighborhoods), with physical houses and yards in each (30 per neighborhood). Except instead of 3 housing districts Turbine provides 4. And instead of 16 wards per district, Turbine provides 250! That's *30,000* homes compared to FFXIV's pitiful 1,440.. and Turbine's game is free-to-play, going on 7 years old now, and was dealing with *much* older server hardware.

My thread has a slightly different point though than most of them. Most of the gripes is about the current situation but im looking far futher into 3.3, and im calling it now. It's not going to be fixed by making more plots unless they make some kind of infinite amount as players request a house, like wildstar.

Allow people to legitimately sell houses and transfer the progress they made in workshops to the next house. On my server there are many people selling houses for a 3-10 mil but the whole process of purchasing and transferring houses is plain ridiculous. Some people hold on to houses simply because they do not want to give up for free something they earned.

I have to agree with Gyson on this, he is 100% correct. Then again, everyone has legitimate complaints here, so you're all correct. SE is seemingly incompetent whenever it comes to sustaining satisfaction with the player base with any regard to housing.
