How would your Anima Questline look like?

First of all, this is not a thread for complaining about the new relic weapon. There are enough threads about that already. This is more a thread about collecting ideas, which would make the new relic more attractive to every player. More like: "If you have the chance, how would your Anima weapon questline look like?"

In my opinion, it should be less grindy and a bit more challenging. Something fun and fresh but easy enough for everyone. Well, here are my ideas:

    Step 1: Exploration!
FFXIV is beautifully designed. Its really a shame, to rush through Eorzea and miss so many beautifull places and characters.

Here is the idea: You get a kind of camera as a new key-item. Your goal is to activate this key-item and make 6 photos from specific places/characters. Those are seperated into 4 categories (World, Dungeon, Raid and NPC) with 3 goals each (12 in total). By making the right picture, you get a crystal, which can be traded for the new weapon. Of course, you can do this unsync, too.
For example: "Raid: Caduceus" or "Raid: Syrcus Tower Main Entrance" or "World: Dalamud Shards" or "Dungeon: Haukke Manor Window"

    Step 2: Time Attack!
Since 3.X you have the chance to do Dungeons and Primals alone or unsync. You also can see the duration in your chatlog after completing a duty. Why not make use of it?

Here is the idea: 7 Low Level-Dungeons and 3 Primals must be beaten within a certain time limit. You can do this alone or with other players, but you have to finish it as a Level 60 Character.
For example: "Sastasha Normal within 15 Minutes" or "Beat Ifrit Normal within 5 Minutes"

    Step 3: Challenge Mode!
Since Heavensward more and more players joining the FFXIV Community. But most of them dont know how to play their jobs (especially the new jobs) right, no matter if they are level 30 or 60. And it can be hard because no one tell them how.

Here is the idea: You can get 1 of 10 books with 3 goals each packed as a kind of tutorial. Each step is seperated in 3 difficulties (easy, normal, hard) and for completing them it will increase the stats of your weapon. You can do this in a special training room or anywhere else (dungeons, house, s.o.).
For example: "Use Fire II x3 and fill up your MP within 6 seconds completely" or "Reach 600 DPS on 3 targets within 10 seconds" or "Interrupt 'Voice of the dragon' with one of your skills".

What do you guys think? Do you have any ideas, too?

PS: Sorry for my bad english T_T

I actually like the new relic, it makes tons of old content relevant again

it might be frustrating for people who want to rush it within 1 week, but I guess thats their own fault

getting law and poesie tomes doesnt feel useless anymore, old hunts became rewarding again.

the only thing for the last step which I miss would be a 2.0 raid repeatable: clear t1-13 for a token, or Lota + ST + WoD for another one and let B hunts drop them with a 5% rate

id make the Crystals drop from dungeons because its not the fates that lack any people( no one uses them to level) it is the dungeons who lack any one queuing for them. So id make people do some of the Pre 3.0 dungeons to give new players a chance to get content done.

Id rather do 18 dungeons, then grind for a chance to get a drop...

A few ideas I had just as I've been doing the fates:

    1. Playing off the original relic quest a bit: EXPLORE the Diadem for your weapon's components. Maybe it's in the caves. Maybe it's in a buried coffer. It's DEFINITELY there, but you have to find the pieces to have it constructed. This would encourage more than the usual dino-zerg, and introduce actual exploration to the Diadem.

    2. Regional/Lore-based logic: White Mage? Run the Amdapor instances to find your relic piece. Machinist? Infiltrate a Castrum for Magitek components. Paladin? Perhaps your relic piece could be buried within the Sunken Temple of Qarn, or one of the many Sil'dihn/Belahdian ruins in the open world? Something different and INTERESTING for everyone.

    3. Playing off the Last Ones mechanic in Lightning Returns: A bit grindy, but not FATE oriented; players are given a set target within different areas and through eliminating more and more of that type of creature, you give rise to a demi-primal of sorts. Essentially, you'd create an NM that successfully defeating awards you with the "soul" of said creature within your weapon.

Most if not all of these ideas are half-formed, but would still be at least more interesting than Atma 3.0, dungeon bucket list, and component/craft grind.

I'd clearly make it so the entire thing is just buying overly expensive from specialists or tracking down as many generous ones as you can. Seriously though, I think the first 2 steps in this Relic quest are fine. The Atma 3.0 drop rate isn't nearly as bad as Atma was at first (I'm thinking the drop rate is around ATMA when nerfed, maybe more) and the dungeon part is an easy 1 day thing you can do unsynced up until the HW dungeons, and lord knows I haven't seen those HW dungeons in a while because Low Level Roulette is Deepcroft Roulette. Stage 3 is where it falls apart, in that you have to grind for 80 tokens and then also get 16 HQ SPECIALIST REQUIRED items, even removing that second bit would ease the pain a bit. Hell, even lowering it to half that amount, or even maybe just 1 of each (you know, like how Zodiac was?).

    I do like @Caitlyn's suggestion.

But maybe could borrow from the job quests as well - i.e. monk to get the crystals would go do what they do 30-50 or so, bard looking for new songs(maybe need to trawl through the inn's and taverns) - that in the end create a crystal - etc... etc...
It would feel original at least even if in the end it would all be go to point A, click, go to point B, click etc...

Step 2 ok the dungeons are kinda ok...

Step 3... I'd use primals(or any other 8 man duties really) - all of them - get a mark list as such that lists 3 to do from all available through DF - do them get a drop - maybe mix it up so that you need to do multiple lists to complete one item.

Maybe some items would require same ones to be run to get a different drop - the mark list would define what drops., Adding a bit of poe and law into the mix would help out as well.

Step One: As a previous user said, I would make the crystals drop in dunjins, rather than fates, queing as a low level DPS is painful and no one uses the HW fates to level.

Step Two: Keep as is, it was kinda nice doing dunjins like Snow Cloak again. I also forgot how cool the Vault was.

    Step Three:
I would keep it similar to the current system in grinding out items, except I would ease up on the number a little bit (IE: instead of 800 Alex runs, make it closer to 600 cause I'm a masochist)
HOWEVER I would also add a crafting token system. Don't want to run content? Would rather craft or trade? Then I would want a system where you turn in a bunch of HQ crafts for the same items, to give players a choice between one raiding, crafting, or both.

Why do people keep quoting that 800 runs number? That's only the amount of run if you don't use the law tomestones or any other venue to get the items. Personally, all I change is the necessitation of the specialist crafters, it's just SE's attempt to make a poorly implemented system relevant.... Oh wait, FATE grinding... Yeah.... >.>

Those are really nice ideas. I would love to do those instead of ATMAs and Dungeons (Dungeons arent that bad, but I prefer something more lore-based content).

I'm not a game designer, but here is what I would change:

I wouldn't implement a grind step like Atma 2.0 in order to get a weapon that is 30 item levels worse than what players have been running around with for months now.
That simply makes 0 sense at all.

Step 2 was okay. A way to bring a few more players into HWs leveling dungeons and a fun trip down memory lane.

Step 3 is okay too. Items come from a variety of sources, the player can choose which one suits his playstyle. Merely the amount is off, I'd cut that in half.

@Caitlyn: Hate the idea of timed runs because I hate races against the clock in general.
I really like the idea of tying in exploration but I doubt that it would work in practice, because people write guides and could complete something like that within minutes once the guides are out.

World of Warcraft tried that once and rewarded a mount for it in the Beginning of Pandaria. Initially you searched a lot and paid attention to the world around you. Once the guide was out you were done in 20 minutes or so.
