I play on pc w/ an xbox 360 controller, and it was recently brought to my attention that I have input delay ingame. this was observed by my girlfriend who also plays ffxiv and was helping me troubleshoot another unrelated issue computer issue. pressing any button has about a second of delay b/w when the button is pressed and when the corresponding action happens. this applies to jumping, holding down the triggers, using actions...basically everything that can be observed. I guess I've been playing long enough w/ this delay that it wasn't apparent to me, but was immediately noticed by my girlfriend b/c she doesn't experience this issue on her computer

my first guess of what was causing the issue was my controller, but when I borrowed my girlfriend's controller, the same issue happened

I tried switching which port the controller was plugged into, but the delay was persistent regardless of which port was used, even when using the other controller

I also tried uninstalling the controller's drivers and reinstalling them, but the issue is still present

through all of this trial and error, I attempted to recalibrate my controller in ffxiv, but now it's experiencing an issue I've never had before. other pc games as well as windows 7's controller calibration tool, joy.cpl, show that the controller is receiving input from the right joystick without any sort of sensitivity issues, but in ffxiv it's barely being recognized when moved on the y axis. it's just nearly impossible for me to calibrate the right joystick when it asks for me to move it up and down, b/c it rarely recognizes the movement. if it is able to, it's only when the joystick has been pushed to the extreme in each direction and at a very particular spot. this means that moving my camera on the y axis doesn't work 99% of the time ingame

using joy.cpl to attempt to calibrate the controller outside of games and with windows 7 does not seem to work or make any difference. according to joy.cpl's measurements, all of the inputs on the controller are functional, including the y axis of the right joystick. but I'm still unable to calibrate correctly in ffxiv through all of this troubleshooting and even uninstalling and reinstalling the game

I haven't experienced this sort of delay or right joystick issues w/ my controller when playing other pc games, even those that require precise timing such as rhythm games so I suspect at this point that the issue lies within ffxiv, windows 7's controller calibration settings, or both but I'm not exactly sure what caused this issue or how to fix it. at this point I'm at the end of my rope and don't know how to troubleshoot any further or resolve this issue, b/c I've tried everything at my disposal and can't think of how else to fix it
