Wrong time and place. Back then in the 1.0 era, XIV almost died (and almost took SE down along with it). We supported SE through thick and thin. Not just because it is a popular game, like some new players are doing now. That is what makes it different and what gives our support (and thus our rewards), meaning.

So you would discredit my entire RP character on the simple fact that I meta IRL did not know that the game existed a few years ago? That is quite extremely limiting. I watched a lot of cutscenes from 1.0 and read up on the past lore. As far as I care, my character was there. If it is more money SE wants, then let me retroactively pay for the time missed by buying it in the cash shop.

As someone who was there for that time, I'm not sure I agree with this attitude. I was grateful to be there, the experience was pretty valuable. You couldn't possibly do the 1.0 story now, you can't go back in time and redo any of the old content. People who started in 2.0 and later are probably kicking themselves for missing such a substantial part of what made the game what it is today, and knowing what it is now probably would gladly go back and fund it if they could.

In fairness, you got the tattoo just for having an existing character. The only money you ever had to pay was for the initial game, but you got the tattoo as long as you had a character regardless of whether or not you ever paid a cent when they started to charge a subscription.

If you really wanted to support SE during that time, you would continue supporting them by allowing them to make more revenue and be more successful.

If you just want to pretend you are a special snowflake, then continue acting how you are.

I don't see the exclusivity of vanity and mounts as barring content from new players, I see the Legacy stuff as perks for being loyal to the game, and thus are rewarded for sticking it out as long as you did. New players that didn't play through 1.0 shouldn't have access to things like that.

While the tattoos, the mounts and other perks are nice, I'm not concerned at all about those things being non-Legacy. I think it's nice they did that for players that were there during that era of the game. If anything, my only regret is not going through it for story, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Leave the Legacy rewards and perks to Legacy players, not the cash shop.

Yes, I understand that. But they CAN'T. It's way too late in XIV's life cycle. They missed out roughly 3-4 YEARS ago. There are some things you really just can't turn the clock back on. And again, if you give 2.0 and newer players legacy items, that spits in the face of everybody that was there.

Really, it's pure selfishness. Just because they want it doesn't mean they should get it.
