    Suggested changes for Paladin Job

    1) Goring Blade - Increase Goring Blade base potency from 220 to 230.
    2) Divine Veil - Allow Divine Veil to activate on self from self heal and remove condition that Divine Veil's effect ends if another party member uses a healing ability.
    3) Sheltron - Change Sheltron so that it blocks the next physical or magical attack for 10s.
    4) Clemency - reduce cast time to 2.5 seconds
    5) Savage Blade - increase Savage Blade's potency from 200 to 210.

    So basically...you want all your skills to be better?

    That's a new one

    You realise goring blade is a 540 potency dot? i.e more potency than fell cleave?

    Yeah, the skills need to be improved as Paladin lacks dos relative to the warrior, and besides, warriors have the maim buff (20% damage increase) and deliverance, which gives them a 5% damage increase and stacks of abandon which increases critical hit rate. Warriors overall do more damage than a paladin so a slight increase by 10 potency to increase their damage is fine. Paladins need to do a little more damage. The other skills need to be made a little bit more effective so that the paladin is as good as the warrior or dark knight.

    Paladin has much better defensive skills than warrior, as well as a shield to block physical attacks. A paladin in sword oath with STR accs can pull 800-850 dps on a dummy. You have fight or flight, a 30% increase in damage for 30 seconds every 90 seconds. That's effectively a 10% damage buff over a whole fight. Please acknowledge the strength of your class compared to the other tanks. You can't have it all. If paladins could pull the dps of a warrior, they would just be too good. As it stands, paladin dps is a little bit behind warrior on dps, but still remains the king of mitigation. You have rampart, sentinel, foresight, buffed convalescence, hallowed ground, shelltron, bulwark, a big shield, a big self heal. As far as mitigation goes, you are god.

    Interesting suggestion!

    However, like Olivia has said, I think Paladin's a meant to be played as a defensive tank rather than Warrior that relies on lifesteal and dps. So I welcome your other changes, but I think the potency increases aren't completely justified.

    Have you considered levelling a Warrior to see how they play?

    I have played marauder a bit, but I prefer the damage mitigation of the paladin. I just want the paladin to have a little more dps so it can be more useful. That is all, is 10 potency such a big and unfair change to you? I didn't ask for a 50 or 100 potency change. I am fine playing defensively as a tank as buffs are my favourite aspect of the FFXIV. The potency changes are justified as they will give you a little more dps to more easily deal with solo content and to help with raid wide damage a little bit. I don't intend for the paladin to have the same dps as a warrior as they would be op then. Fight or Flight only lasts 30 seconds where it has a 90 second cool down while the warrior can have a 25% damage increase all the time with maim and deliverance. A few modifications to make their new buffs easier to use is not going to make them op. Besides, don't you realize that Divine Veil can be accidentally canceled out if another person casts a healing ability after Divine Veil goes up on everybody.

    This would be pointless as we already have an ability that effectively does this, it's called 'Bulwark'. Although admittedly it doesn't guarantee all physical attacks will be blocked while the buff is in effect, pair it with a shield with a high block rate and you'll pretty much block every physical hit that comes your way while Bulwark is up (which is easily shown when Shield Swipe becomes available to use). Either way, changing Sheltron to this would be rather redundant. Although a trait that adds blocking magic damage as well would be nice to have.

    Oh! I'm really sorry, I worded that wrongly - I meant what the OP wants Sheltron to become is redundant (for the reasons I mentioned, namely Bulwark), not Sheltron as it is now is redundant (yeah, guaranteed block is pretty sweet). I'm sorry for that mix-up!

    Maybe i misunderstood too...hmm...the only change I see the OP mentioning is adding magic block to sheltron, other than that the skill description is the same as it is in game?
