Soooooo. Second to last boss in 3.0 MSQ anticlimactic or....?

Did Thordan not actually finish off Lahabrea? I know he wasn't build up to be the ultimate Ascian, but since Lahabrea has been with us since 2.0 I assumed he would be one of the Final Ascians we defeated. I don't remember what they said was required to finish off an Ascian, but can a Primal actually destroy one?

What's required is to keep their soul/aether to reach their "Safezone" where they can recover and reform themselves after they are defeated, and permanently destroy it. A primal could very much do so yes, basically Thordan ate and consumed Lahabrea's Soul/Aether before he could escape, thus ending his immortality and permanently killing him

    Possible (Theoretically).

    Correct (Allegedly).

I, too, expected that truly defeating Lahabrea would be one of the final relevant moments dealing with the Ascians.

Of course, there's always time for some "THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FINAL FORM" stuff, but Elidibus seemed to sense his evaporation.

I do really hope lahabrea comes back all freeza on us, he seems like the underdog of the ascians the guy we beat so many times that in his desperation he becomes the strongest annoyance.

The fact that he was absorbed into Thordan's sword, Ascalon, and that this sword is still notably sitting there after the fight ends leads me to believe he will be released from it at some point down the road. Lahabrea's just been built up to much to be cheesed out like a chump.

Lahabrea was sucked into the eye, which is back with Nidhogg. The sword is likely just a lump of metal now.

I hope he doesn't come back. He served his role well enough and we already fought him twice. If Square pulls him back from the dead, any reason they use to explain it is going to feel like a cheap butt pull.

The ending unnerved me. Nidhogg's eyes only absorb aether, and that aether can be released which is what we did with Estinien's Eye. But Thordan's Eye was the unused one that took Lahabrea. There's no way Thordan couldhave used up all the aether in the second Eye, because clearly Nidhogg was still able to manifest. So does that mean that Lahabrea's inside Nidhogg along with Estinien?

Plot "twists" out of nowhere based on suddenly revealed details that subtly contradict previously established points are kind of how this game operates, if you hadn't noticed. I suspect he'll reemerge from Nidhogg once we save Estinien, maybe even taking over Estinien to escape.

That, or he was only ever a chump meant to set the stage for Eldibus and Darky. Given a choice, I'd much rather be taunted for hours on end by Akira Ishida, so I'm hoping for the latter. My hopes are usually crushed, though.
