Attention Square Enix, it's the little things that count the most.

Gamers play games for fun. The following are not fun, and therefore, suggested to be changed. I don't care about your big content additions. I just want the little things fixed first. This will be long.

    1. Slowness of everything is top of the list. I'm not referring to character progression. I don't want easy mode. I'm talking about the little things that are too slow and point toward bad programming. They are:
    ---Switching between active/passive.
    ---Weapon draws and sheaths.
    ---Gear changes.
    ---Menu navigations
    ---Macros
---And much much much much much more.
Some may be inclined to think this is expected because of geographical loc & server loc, but it's not. I currently live in the UK and sport an abysmal 2Mbps internet connection. However, I just moved here 2 months ago from Japan (where I lived for many years), and rocked a 40Mbps fiber connection nearly down the street (I moved to the UK in a 1985 Delorean). Not many can say they lived on opposite sides of the world while this game has existed. Same performance in both countries. Delay in everything.

    2. Character stops running while changing weapons. Not necessary & annoying. Plus it's slow.
    3. TP move animations don't happen all the time. Gamers like to see these. Believe it or not, that helps in party battle.
    4. The entire macros system:
    ---Typing is slow.
---Hitting enter should carry to next line.
---Character goes into a strobed blinking frenzy during a gear macro.
---The overall macro format is antiquated. Much better systems exist. Check your competition.
    5. UI customization. Guess what, repositioning the few things on the screen is not customization. Plus, good luck with cursor accuracy. Try to grab your life meter and you'll end up with your button bar instead. Also, right click menu options would be splendid.
    6. No addons allowed? Here's a tip, the gamer community can do a much better job at these things. Plus, they make games popular. I know you want that, so permit user addons.
    7. Cursor memory. The cursor should remember last menu position during the course of navigation. Why must I move down a few positions every single time I check a person's bazaar? Just remember the last cursor location and make everyone's life easier.
    8. Market wards. OMG. A see of inanimate retainers is ridiculous.
    9. Mail system. Add one so we don't have to hunt people down and open trades.
    10. Seek party interface of some sort. I don't like having to add people to my friend list just to be able to invite them when they're not standing in front of me. This is all of course after shouting in Uldah.
    11. Mog houses. Make an equivalent. No, retainers are not equivalents. We don't want a mog house for selling stuff, nor do we want an auction house for storage of our gear. Gear storage and economy need to be separate entities.
    12. Why does my character stop running when I check a bazaar? Why can't I just take a glimpse as I'm running past? or behind? Seriously, fix this.
    13. Terrain. Why can I run up some things taller than me, then get stuck on something lower than my knees two seconds later? I should be able to overcome a bush.
    14. Menus.
---Why is every submenu's default choice the one people don't want?
---Less clicks is better. Streamline that junk.
---Make the menues close when getting agro. Having to back out of 473 submenus just to enter battle is a foul. Half of my face is already punched off before I can attack.
    15. Maps. If I owned a map, I would be able to make marks on it no? Add map markers.
    16. Crafting.
---Add solid mathematical formulas, remove the random garbage. Why can I do one regular synth with 70 durability leftover, but the very next synth (identical) goes unstable on the first progress? Or botches before 60% progress. Seriously? This is severely broken. Fix it.
---Make the colors useful or get rid of them. I've learned that red and flashing mean nothing. Whites blow up in my face while red gets me perfect attempts. My newest strategy has been to ignore that crap. Guess what, same success rate.
---Add a repeat button. Why must I click 4 times to repeat the same synth? Wouldn't it be better to click once and do it again?
---Rapid synthesis. Make it usable or toss it.
17 Gear interface. Make the slots line up. Why are my undergarments and gloves just slightly lower than my body slots and such? Fix this. It's annoying. Check your competition for ideas to copy.
    18. Zones. Not to reminisce, but smaller more distinct zones were much better than humungous expansive zones of the same terrain. I know this isn't small, but for real, the black shroud?
    19. Food. Is it so hard to add the effects of food to its description instead of something useless like "delicious"?
    20. Smart AOE. Why must I switch aoe on for buffs and off for killing mobs to avoid agro? These should be automatic so the player doesnt have to manually non stop.
    21. 13001 Lobby connection error.Code 3102.
    22. Battle moves happening, but not visible. Such as regular attacks and such.
    23. Gathering. The mini games are not fun. People do not sit at home in giddy excitement trying to fish or mine. They're actually irritated at the interface and slow response.
    24. Travel. Because we love running for 30 minutes every time we want to do something right? Wrong. Guess what, we should not run out of anima in 3 days, nor should we be making mules for these purposes.

What I find most surprising is this. Somewhere, someone, during the development process of this game, thought that these ideas were good ideas and included them in gold. Lord only knows how this made it through beta. In this state, I will not play if you begin charging monthly fees.

Please fix the little things that matter.

wow u just hit almost every gripe i have about this game since beta of last year especially "What I find most surprising is this. Somewhere, someone, during the development process of this game, thought that these ideas were good ideas and included them in gold. Lord only knows how this made it through beta. In this state, I will not play if you begin charging monthly fees. ....im still trying to figure out who in the SE thought this was remotely ready.... but i am currently giving yoshi p benefit of the doubt and playing my cutoff patch will b 1.25 if it isnt ready by then which will probably hit late spring or next summer im done.

Good stuff. Most people on this forum have little patience for threads like this... But I figure if a year later people still have the same gripes about the dumb things that haven't been fixed (just to add one, if the chat window is open while selecting a crafting action it immediately gets closed and anything you had previously typed is gone.) then those complaints bear even more weight than they did a year ago.

Seriously... I'm excited for all the big changes... but take the time to fix the small stuff first.

Speak for yourself. I DO care about the content additions. Most of the things you list don't matter to me in the slightest, and are really immaterial - and in some cases are what we call 'features,' not bugs.

    For example,

    24. Travel. Because we love running for 30 minutes every time we want to do something right? Wrong. Guess what, we should not run out of anima in 3 days, nor should we be making mules for these purposes.
You are Doing it Wrong if you run out of anima in 3 days. I've been playing for 3 months, every single day, and I've NEVER ran out of anima. Ever.

---Make the colors useful or get rid of them. I've learned that red and flashing mean nothing. Whites blow up in my face while red gets me perfect attempts. My newest strategy has been to ignore that crap. Guess what, same success rate.
Totally wrong. This just means you don't know much about crafting.

    19. Food. Is it so hard to add the effects of food to its description instead of something useless like "delicious"?
That's not meaningless; you just don't seem to know what Delicious means in this game.

    &c...

I agree with cycloptichorn, its the core stuff that should be addressed. The slowness and all that stuff are details.

Each to their own... but it's the dumb little things that should have been fixed ages ago that inhibit my enjoyment. If you can look passed it, great.

Most things mentioned are definately annoying and should be addressed. The random disconnects and server error codes top my list. No one can enjoy or hate the game or content if cant stay logged on long enough to experience them.

A few of these I have no issues with. Traveling I personally enjoy, though I do wish mounts were created, though I'd actually prefer it if they weren't player owned. I don't want to be riding up to mobs to attack. I'd rather just take my mount to a favorite grinding spot, get off, tell it to wait for me, kill what I can, whistle, mount up again, and ride off, eventually stabling the mount at another camp or city.

I'd prefer the gathering mini-games over a simply click and wait like in WoW, though they should be smoothed, and perhaps the formulas more complex.

That said, they may already be, I just have very few ways of proving it. I'm not sure if it was just in my head, but I could often get up to 4 out of 5 mining strikes as one shots based on intuition. "Okay, I reached this kind of mineral at this depth, I know it's above my last strike, but it should still be around the same rock layer (depth) as before." *Guessed correctly.*

There are ways to sample the whole of the formation to find the exact materials you actually want to gather. Nearby rock formations show some consistency in the placement of those materials even. When collecting alumen III or whatever it was called for a while, mines within 50 malms had alumen at the same height, within 80 varied by one tick, 100 by two ticks, etc. If this isn't just coincidental luck that's been happening every time for 8+ ranks so far, then I'd say its a pretty great system.

    Unsaymoon:
I agree with you. The speed of menus and such are things that just slow down the game. I am not as much concerned with active/passive speed/weapon draws and sheaths--its not that bad, but I agree that the act of attacking sort of requires your weapon to be drawn-why not make that a part of any aggressive action against the mob-your weapon is automatically drawn when you ACT against the mob. Sheathing/passive could require an action.

Your comment about crafting has been an issue of mine as well as that of several people I know who have stopped playing. Once one plays WoW, it is hard to grasp crafting an item 10 levels below your skill and still having a chance of failure. My brother's major gripe is that if he is high enough level to craft it, there should be no failure--leave failure for those who are trying to craft above their level.

Instead of macros to equip gear, skills, traits, etc, why not give a character model for each class. When you switch to the new class, it loads your saved model. I know that sooner or later someone will have a problem with even this, but really, wouldn't it be nice if you could switch your skills and gear completely with one button push as opposed to 4 macros that take 20-30 seconds each to activate? I mean you could keep the cooldowns on newly equipped skills---You equip all the skiils at once and then you can't use any of them for 30 seconds (more time for things like exaltation, etc.).

I do have one suggestion for you thought that may help with one of your concerns--

20.) You can do this by building it into your macro. Why not hit Ctrl-1 to turn aoe on, cast a string of buffs, then turn aoe off? Or you can build a macro for your aoe nuke---for example, let's say the 1-key has Blizzard II assigned to it. You could build a macro into Ctrl-1 that would turn aoe on, cast Blizzard II, and then turn aoe off. Both Blizzards would be assigned to your 1-key---you would just hit Ctrl for your aoe spells.

But it is just a suggestion. I actually use my action bar for skills that I must see their cooldowns---most everything else is macro'ed. Healing-buffs? those are all macroe'd. Ctrl-1-8 for Cure II---ALT-1-8 for Sacr II. CTRL-8 and ALT-8 are for my character--they are the same on all macro bars that I currently utilize. Protect/Shell is a macro set always to AOE ON and at the end it switches off. Stygian Spikes/ Stoneskin as well.
