Q: Please implement a building such as a library where we can learn more details about the lore.
A: Maehiro: This is also something for which we've received numerous requests. The Lore Team has some plans drawn up for something similar, but as we're prioritizing patch releases, they're a bit behind on this. There's a ton of lore that is yet untold in Eorzea, and I think we need to go deeper into each aspect gradually, so I’d like to look into this. More than a library, I would like to make it so you can obtain literature from different situations or record parts from dialogue with NPCs, so I’m thinking a lore version of the quest journal would be more appropriate.

Yoshida: A plan for a weapons and armor compendium has come my way. The plan is to allow you to read about the origins of each weapon and armor after you have completed the series, and we would like to implement this as well.

Q: Is there any update on the weapon and armor log?
A: We've currently finished off a lot of the details, but we have to plans for implementation, we've been estimating the amount of work for each. The first idea would simply have players building a collection of weapons and armor, while the second idea would allow players to read the lore surrounding the gear they obtain. However, this data will affect the player data used in real time, so we are carefully investigating this at the moment. Next week we will reach a conclusion and proceed for actual implementation, but if we decide to go with the first idea it will be implemented in patch 2.4. In the case we decide on the second option, it will be implemented a bit further in the future. In any event, we've progressed quite a bit on this and we will have our verdict soon enough.

It has been a while since Live Letter XVI, and 2.4 has come so it seems like they're going with the second option, so how long is "a bit further in the future"?


I've personally been saving 1 of each "Green" or better weapon/armor I can get for completions sake and for possible glamours, but with only 2 retainers it is getting out of hand. A book for glamours would be nice as talked about in that other thread, but even just a "completion checklist" would make me happy. Maybe different achievement rewards depending on what percentages you reach within a weapon / armor category.

Made this post nearly 6 months ago and we haven't heard anything about it since then either. With Heavensward coming out we're getting a lot of information about it, and yet there hasn't really been any mention of this stuff either.

-Live Letter XIII was over a year ago.
-Live Letter XVI was over nine months ago.

Can we get any update at all about it?

Q51. A lot of new equipment has been introduced, do you have plans to implement an inventory specifically for glamour, or some type of a gear log?

A51. I understand that players often carry their glamour equipment in the Armoury Chest, and because of this your Armoury is often full. We need to think about the stress being placed on the servers, but would like to somehow increase the quality of life by doing something like adding the ability to glamour from your retainer’s inventory. We’re also looking into saving the glamour status on the client side as a final measure.

Note how the answer doesn't answer the question at all, while implying instead that you should need more retainers. Just when we get the chance to pay for 4 more retainers... Shame on you, SE.
I don't even want this feature to save inventory space (after they announced the new retainers I just turned-in all the green pieces I've been saving since 2.0 launch, except the ones for my main class) but because I would LOVE to have such a log to fill. Please, SE... it's not too late.

In the last live letter we heard that the Devs are thinking about adding the option to glamour from our retainers. While this would be a nice little improvement as you no longer have to retrieve a piece from your retainer to glamour, it does little in terms of helping stuffed-to-the-brim retainer inventories.

A word on whether or not a glamour book/ armour log will be implemented, or what decisions have been made on this subject would be nice.

Even a "sorry it is not on the priority list" or "it got scrapped" would be appreciated. A solid no would be better than no news at all, in my opinion.

Seeing as the game's development is constantly fluid, I'd say we won't be getting too many "solid no" responses from them. They stated that they are continually optimizing the game, which leaves opportunities to add more improvements. It's really not a question of whether they can or cannot do it, but rather can they afford to do it at the present time.

Q71. After 3.0 launched, my inventory and Armoury have been super full. Do you plan on adding more inventory space?

A71. I understand everyone’s request, but since additional inventory space would increase the data transmitted, there is a risk for server crashes, so this isn’t something we can do right away. We’re optimizing aspects with every patch, so we will continue to look into this for the future. Until then, we would like to add a feature that stores and retrieves whole gear sets to and from retainers, and make other quality-of-life changes to retainers.

I'm also interested in more information regarding this set storage system they are referring to.

Q18: Do you have plans to implement a feature, such as a book that records items you have obtained once, and you can drop that item but still use it for glamour? With this feature it’ll free up the inventory space.

A18: Yoshida: We have no plans for this. We would increase the inventory space if this was possible.

I'm really sad that there are no plans for this, but at least we finally heard something about it.
