    More interesting loot please! Here are some ideas!

    I would like it if the game's loot was more interesting to reflect the challenge and encounters. Horizontal Progression if you would!

    Bowl of Embers (Extreme)

    Inferno Bangle of Aiming
    On a successful attack, you have a 15% chance to trigger Combustive Arrows: This effect Ignites the target for 10 seconds dealing 50 potency in damage over time. This effect replaces itself if it triggers again.

    Inferno Bangle of Casting
    When you damage an enemy with a spell, you have a 20% chance to trigger Pyromancer's Bolt: This effect deals 50 potency in damage immediately. This spell has a 5% chance to trigger off damage over time effects.

    Inferno Bangle of Fending
    When you damage an enemy with a melee attack, you have a 25% chance to trigger Wrathful Flames, which deals 25 potency in damage to all targets around the target and increases enmity.

    Inferno Bangle of Healing
    Healing Spells have an additional Effect: Cauterize, healing spells have a 20% chance to additionally remove a single detrimental effect from target.

    Inferno Bangle of Slaying
    When you damage an enemy with a melee attack, you have a 25% chance to trigger Dreadful Flame, which deal 50 potency to a target and decreases enmity.



    The Navel (Extreme)

    Tremor Earrings of Aiming
    On a successful attack, you have a 7% chance to trigger Stone Arrows: This effect has a chance to interrupt the target and deals 80 potency damage. (Interrupt is a 0.1 second stun that does not trigger stun immunitys.)

    Tremor Earrings of Casting
    Additionally Increases Defense by 80.

    Tremor Earrings of Fending
    Additionally decreases damage taken by 7%, however reduces movement speed by 15% as well.

    Tremor Earrings of Healing
    Healing Spells have an additional Effect: Stoneshield, healing spells have a 20% chance to erects a magicked barrier which nullifies damage up to 500. However people affected by the barrier are slowed by 10% until it is used.

    Tremor Earrings of Slaying
    All attacks deal 10 more potency in damage and have a small chance to deal 20 more potency, however reduces movement speed by 20% as well.



    The Howling Eye (Extreme)

    Vortex Ring of Aiming
    Increases accuracy of attacks by 5%, critical attacks no longer miss.

    Vortex Ring of Casting
    Increases accuracy of spells by 5%, spells that miss deal half potency damage.

    Vortex Ring of Fending
    Increases Magical Defense by 80.

    Vortex Ring of Healing
    Increases healing spells critical chance by 10%.

    Vortex Ring of Slaying
    Increases melee attack critical chance by 5%, critical hits from melee attacks also additionally increase evasion by 15% for 10 seconds. Thus buff replaces itself if triggered again.



    Akh Afah Amphitheatre (Extreme)

    True Ice Bracelet of Aiming
    All attacks have a 10% chance to root targets to the ground for 1 second dealing 100 potency damage, this effect also increases enmity.

    True Ice Bracelet of Casting
    On a successful spell, you have a 20% chance to trigger Deep Freeze: This effect slows the target by 50% for 10 seconds dealing 30 potency in damage.

    True Ice Bracelet of Fending
    You slide around everywhere when you move leaving ice under your feet which others can slide on for 10 seconds. Increases evasion by 20%, however your attacks have a 20% additionally to also miss. Not recommended to be used in some fights.

    True Ice Bracelet of Healing
    You can cast healing spells whilst moving, however the potency for all healing spells is reduced by 50.

    True Ice Bracelet of Slaying
    You slide around everywhere when you move, increases movement speed by 20%.




    The Striking Tree (Extreme)

    Judgment Ring of Aiming
    Activate: Ramuh's Love
    Heal yourself with a self healing potency of 500.
    Cooldown: 45 seconds.

    Judgment Ring of Casting
    Activate: Ramuh's Protection
    Erects a magicked barrier around yourself which nullifies damage by up to 25% of your max health.
    Duration: 30 seconds.
    Cooldown: 45 seconds.

    Judgment Ring of Fending
    Activate: Ramuh's Hatred
    Deals 200 Potency in damage to target and maximizes enmity in target.
    Target becomes immune to Ramuh's Hatred for 18 seconds.
    Cooldown: 40 seconds.

    Judgment Ring of Healing
    Activate: Ramuh's Benediction
    Grants a healing over time effect to target.
    Duration: 25s
    Target becomes immune to Ramuh's Benediction for 20 seconds.
    Cooldown: 50 seconds.

    Judgment Ring of Slaying
    Activate: Judgement Stance
    Reduces damage received by 15% and increases enmity gain. Also Increases max health by 15%, while lowering damage dealt by 25%.
    Cannot Stack with other tank's stances. This item is recommended when you lose a tank or need to tank something in a pinch.
    Duration: Forever.
    Cooldown: 120 seconds.



    Thornmarch (Extreme)

    Ribbon of Aiming
    Attacks have a chance to apply a debuff to the enemy for 10 seconds. "If you die, deal's massive damage to all allies around the you"
    (Want opinions for this one.)

    Ribbon of Casting
    Critical attacks have a 100% chance to proc "Pukla Puki the Pomburner's Blast": This attack deals 30 potency in damage immediately, and has a chance to bounce to nearby targets. (up to 3 additional targets.)

    Ribbon of Fending
    When any damage is recieved this will cast "Outnumbered, Kupa?": Increases all stats by 2.0%, this stacks up to 10 stacks lasting 10 seconds. Each stack restores the amount of time the buffs last.
    Only applies when having the enmity of 4 targets.

    Ribbon of Healing
    Healing spells have a 3% chance to proc "Lifewell", which restores 1% mana every second for 5 seconds however this also deals 1% max health damage to you every second. If you die whilst this debuff is active, everyone around you loses all of their mana. This proc steals life regardless if you have 1 hp or not, it wants to kill you!

    Ribbon of Slaying
    Critical attacks have a 100% chance to proc "Whiskerwall Kupdi Koop's Strike!": This attack deals 60 potency and restores that much health.

    Yoshi-P did say that they are going orthodox in 2.x on itemization to have a solid foundation, and they do want to add more "interesting" effects and stuff to items. That was during beta, though, if I remember correctly. He might have forgotten about it.

    I made a suggestion like that during Beta, as well as at launch, so it's nice to see others with a similar mind! I also felt that gear set bonuses would be pretty cool, too, as a way to add more horizontal gear progression.

    While I'd love gear to have more special effects attached to them, I can see how this will make other players more elitist than they currently are.

    Instead of having multiple stackable effects via all these loot, why not make it so that materia gives off these special abilities? Also make it so that you can only have one equip at a given time?

    Outwardly that's a reasonable concern, except that other MMOs have effects like these on certain pieces of gear and don't have the problem you're describing.

    The key is to not make the effect earth-shatteringly good such that the piece of gear becomes mandatory. WoW's had a few issues when they tried to get too creative (look up Rune of Re-origination sometime). As long as the proc effect is kept within a certain power range, you're fine. And it makes the player feel more powerful because something new and cool is happening.

    This game is seriously lacking in fun effects on equipment. Yes please to the OP. Devs need to worry less about being so anal about balancing and worry more about having a fun game.

    What we need are some small set bonus effects or special materia effects that alter the way skills behave in minor ways. Nothing particularly powerful but just something that makes things feel ever so slightly different. They've expressed a desire to introduce such things at some point so for all we know they may be in Heavensward. The mods on the forums have acknowledged the request several times in the past so they definitely know we want it.

    Yeah but if the game was unbalanced then it wouldn't be fun then would it? Also gear effects I have no objections but your ideas seem too OP.

    Well, that is why I like options. I don't mind if it unbalances some things but I want the items to be around the same power level. However still retain their advantage in a situation.
