I was believing this to be about enemy werewolves, not playable. Screw playable ones, maybe have a costume for a halloween event. They wouldn't be bad as common enemies with the odd NM here and there.

what is this? Twilight?
I just love it that people immediately say Twilight when werewolves or vampires are mentioned. Don't worry. We don't want to ruin the game. When educated people say vampire, or werewolf they/we mean the scary creatures appearing in gothic dark fantasy stories. Yoshie-P did mention that the story of Heavensward will be gothic dark fantasy.
Rest assured any story can be done well and if I am going to trust any game developer with it, it will be SE.
The problem with the whole vampires and werewolf thing is that today's society on the depicted picture of what these creatures should act and look like are far beyond what they used to be which is a problem. Vampires and werewolves used to be scary, now they are nothing but a mere fan service to someones sick and twisted fantasies. My opinion is they have no place here in FF, and they have no place in today's times.I just love it that people immediately say Twilight when werewolves or vampires are mentioned. Don't worry. The time will come when they are as they should be again, but probably not in my lifetime.
An understandable fear that many share. Still, you shouldn't lose hope. I'm sure yoshie and co could make vamps and wolves real scary beasts again. And if not? Well I still have my novel waiting in the inbox of a publishing company. The problem with the whole vampires and werewolf thing is that today's society on the depicted picture of what these creatures should act and look like are far beyond what they used to be which is a problem. They could always just make Vampires and Were'wolves' like they did in FFXI, which had nothing at all to do with Twilight. Vampires were designed with fear essence, and the Gnoles were designed to be real beasts. The problem with the whole vampires and werewolf thing is that today's society on the depicted picture of what these creatures should act and look like are far beyond what they used to be which is a problem. There was a whole town of werewolves in Final Fantasy V as well.
I approve this thread! ^..^
The creatures in Twilight are not werewolves and vampires. The "vampires" sparkle, enough said there, and the "werewolves" are more akin to the skinwalker legend than they are to werewolf legend.
If you associate them with the non-embarrassing, completely different takes on them such as in World of Darkness lore (no, not the raid), that's a you problem.

They were really more Loup Garou than skinwalker, really. The shape-shifting into wolves (and wolves only) at will is the giveaway.
All the same, a shapeshifter class/job would be cool. Like stances, or the Paladin Oaths, but for dps and giving a distinct visual difference.

I find them to be much more like skinwalkers than Loup Garou, at least this take on them. The creatures in Twilight transform into a full wolf, unlike the hybrid creature noted in the legends of Loup Garou and werewolves. The cause of their ability to transform is more akin to skinwalker legend as well. The ability is shared among the members of the native american tribe in Twilight for an unknown reason, not taken on as an individual curse for each member's doings, iirc.
Regardless, the "werewolves" in Twilight are not actually werewolves and neither them or the "vampires" should automatically be associated with everything like Kyte was doing.
Legends were around long before Twilight, as were many other takes on vampires and werewolves, such as WoD. It doesn't do them justice to say that all implementations of them after Twilight must be trying to bring about a repeat of Twilight.
