Random rule should be okay, if only the system picks the your 5 cards based on the highest possible star rating combination allowed.

For example, if you have above 30 but under 60, it should pick one card from the 4*-5*, plus 4 other 2* cards. If you have 60 cards and above, it should pick one card from the 4*-5* cards, plus 4 other 3* cards. Not a hand of 1* junks.

That's because "Random" doesn't have to mean "literally random". It's a random selection of cards which fit into the basic rule set of the game. The rules like Random or Fallen Ace are additional rules, not replacement rules.

But personally, I've been having a fair bit of success playing with the Random rule against various NPC, including Rowena (can more often then not finish with a draw). Mind, Landenel is one of 2 NPCs I have yet to play against. A lot of the NPCs have a specific way of playing and a particular strategy. Figuring that out and playing at a disadvantage to still win is a pretty fun experience.

There are times, though, when you do get a hand which you can't win with and will usually lose or draw. But yo just take that and try again.

That means that with the random rule you are cobstantly playing Russian Roulette with a revolver loaded with 5 bullets out of 6. To top it, he has Odin, which most likely always plays last. You cannot beat him constantly because of the random rule and your deck will never have powerful enough cards to flips even his weakest one unless you're lucky and he missplays.

Thanks for the feedback. We've been sharing it all with the development team.

Not very much time has passed since Triple Triad made it's glorious release, and it’s quite possible that the random rule feels a bit more difficult due to the fact that players do not have enough cards just yet.

If you feel it is posing a challenge, we ask that you venture throughout Eorzea to collect more cards and then try to challenge these opponents again! You’ll most likely feel a difference once you have more cards and are able to use higher tiers of rare cards in your deck.

Random on NPCs sucks. But I did manage to beat them all. Once you get 30 cards and unlock 2 stars it becomes much easier, That being said I wont be playing those NPCs again for a long time.

Are people really complaining because they can't beat NPCs with the starter deck? Get more cards, I was able to win more than I lost with under 60 cards. I don't see why you people feel you should be able to beat one of the more difficult NPCs without investing time in building your deck. If you can't beat him or lack the motivation to beat him, then you don't deserve the Odin card in my opinion. If you keep playing this game in terms of brute force strategy (aka higher numbers = win) you really don't grasp the concepts of TT. There are plenty of ways to play the board to your advantage and bait Landanel's stronger cards.

Seriously it's only two NPCs people, and Rowena is the only who has a card that you can't get by other means (and drop rate seems higher than normal for a five star on both). Try farming Urth's Fount in Duty Finder and then come back and tell me Landanel is "too hard" or "too cheap".

How does it upset balance? This is an NPC. The rules are meant to be working against YOU, the PLAYER, to make it more difficult. Not the NPC. Each NPC has been individually designed with a strategy and difficulty in mind.

Also, check the active help text for Triple Triad. It specifically states that rules do not apply to several NPCs. Yes, it's difficult, but it's doable. Change your deck, grind for cards through other means so you can develop a 2 star or 3 star deck and come back to him.

If you're interested in a strat to counter his random cards: obtain a 2 star deck ideally. Play your first card with a 4 or 5 vulnerable. He will claim it. He will have to claim with a higher number, such as 6, 7, 8 etc. This means he will be using his strongest number to claim yours and will hopefully, depending on card placement on the board, leave his low number vulnerable is doing so. Claim his, with a defensive card (blocking yourself into a corner so he can't take you). Play your cards defensively, don't try to take his cards after that first one. You only need to hold one of his cards to hold the board. Play your highest card (Double Ace if you got lucky!) last to claim anything you can at the end.

Yes, it's random what cards you get to play with. Solution? Get more cards, of higher star value, and increase your chances at getting better cards.

Just because you can't defeat him doesn't mean other people can't, and certainly doesn't mean the game or rule is broken. Rules are there for us, not the game/AI. It's intentionally designed to be a road block and make the game more challenging!

Seriously, go away and improve your deck before complaining waah it's too hard it's broken.

More cards barely help when the rng can give you an entire deck of 1* cards, and often does.

You clearly don't know what the random rule is. Your cards are chosen randomly from the cards in your collection. You're not guaranteed to get even a single 2* card. But the NPC almost always have the same deck packed with 3*, 4*, and 5* cards because their card collection is so small.

This guy knows what he's talking about, thank you.
Not if he thinks you can choose a deck to fight against a random opponent.

I clearly do know what the random rule is, as I've fought him a lot and obtained your sought after Odin the hard way - through trial, error and ultimately, improvement. Unlocking a 2/3 star deck and having a greater deck of cards to choose from will improve your chances at randomly getting better random cards! Duh.

I even gave you a strategy to beat him. Or are you just glossing over that and continue to act as though it's broken because you basically don't know how to play an even-slightly advanced opponent?
