Have Gold Spammers gone too far?

So, whilst ATMA farming, I got a random friend request. I accepted it out of curiousity. Minutes later, and I get a letter. Oh boy, what could it be? Running over to a delivery moogle, THIS is what I get:




Really now? Of course I deleted the acc from my friend's list, but SE needs to find some way to filter out these bots. Not much of a productive thread, I'm just ranting. Feel free to make suggestions on how to end this menace in replies.

Not trying to point out the obvious but they do have a filter, you can only get mail from people on your friend list.... In other words don't friend people you don't know.

Also /busy stops you from getting /tells. this one sucks but it's the only work around we got.

This is nothing new. Gold sellers will spam friend requests then spam your inbox should you accept their request.

And you might want to blot out the spammer's web address since it's against the rules and we sure as hell don't want to give them any more free advertising.

They only exist because there are some players whom are too lazy to put in a minimum of effort to farm gil. In other words, there is a demand for RMT services, and these services will continue to exist so long as there are people willing to use them.

One thing I do to see if it's a Gold Sell, go to your friends list to see where they are if their a LV1 Class in a starting city it's most likely a gill seller.

The gil prices I've seen are so high that I couldn't afford to buy them even if I wanted to. I guess there's some people out there who play the game who can afford it, but I'd wager not many...?
