Mayhaps Halcyon Rod Lucis was a bit too soon..

Kind of feels as if this rod was added a bit too soon on top of Ironworks rod, or that it's out of place speaking effort;reward.

Lucis: 30 HQ items that you have to fish up, which have an incredibly high bite rate in contrast to everything else fishing. 60 items from leves or other source. Second item doesn't actually require you to fish at all.. Same with the Moonstones.

Ironworks: Catch 106 legendary fish, most of which have typically absurd conditions and are difficult to get bites on, much less land.

I don't know about you, but doing something that encompasses doing basically everything fishing, meaning every different spot, every different possible condition, every different bait, learning how things work inside and out, should probably yield the higher end reward. Having this rod essentially means you caught everything bar 6 fish that you're allowed to skip. 106/112 are required. That means you went to probably every spot in the game, and experienced the entirety of what fishing has to offer.

I'm not demanding a change, but rather to pique a thought that maybe this wasn't the greatest idea, and could stand to see Ironworks rod on top, where it seems it should be. As it stands, the biggest perk you get for getting it is that it can be bought for retainers from the Calamity NPC. It doesn't look particularly amazing, so vanity doesn't seem to have been a focus either.

Totally agree with you, but I suppose theres nothing they can do now to revert it, other than like add new tool which requires Ironworks to be upgraded to like lets say "augmented ironworks".
I don't know if thats their plan but it would at least make people go after those big fishes (that some of us caught and spent loads of time for basically nothing (but 2 titles)).

Btw its 106 for IW rod, theres 112 fishes total.

Or like someone made post about adding mount when u get all fishes or something along those lines.
Would be fair, since FL 200 wins = ADS mount, FL 100 wins = pony, tank 200 dungeons = bear/lion. If they want to make fishing more popular, add mount there

Fixed the totals, but yeah. I wouldn't mind an Augmented version or something of the like. Too much work for a rod that saw almost no use..

It was symbolic that fishing had broken off from the path of the other tools, as well. If you wanted a fishing related reward, you were going to do a lot of fishing to get it. Now it's back on the path of following what the other tools are doing, more or less. I did enjoy the thought that fishing had broken off from the Supra tools and had become it's own thing.

I agree that the Lucis rod is stupid. Either Ironworks rod should be buffed up a bit or perhaps be upgrade-able in the future.

Also I think the datamined adamantoise mount could be a cool and fitting reward for fishing up all big fishes in the latter half of the patch. Let's say they were to add big fishes to make it into total of 130 big fishes, which you'd have to collect all to get the mount.

Who knows, one can only dream.
