Finally a great event!

Giving credit when credit is due, in my opinion the starlight event has been the best in-game event by far! No fate spam-fest, and no RNG to worry about!

I absolutely love how personal/free company housing was brought into this event. I've met more people from the ward where my FC and individual house is located than I ever have before. The quest rewards are fun and everyone seems to really be enjoying the event.

The current starlight event most certainly is one of the best seasonal events offered thus far. It appears as if the dev team is getting some more time to work on some more matured seasonal events. Let's hope they can keep this up!

Really? I find doing the exact same three dailies to be kinda boring... It doesn't feel like an event to me... I like the Housing aspect (and dislike the Subdivisions aspect, or lack there of), but I feel it could have been vastly improved by making the Red/Yellow/Blue Stars a daily reward, with Green ones being a spammable reward (FATE or not), with the Gift Bags being something you give to some random other player, rather than keep for yourself. For example, the Gift Box furniture they added could allow you to place a Gift Bag inside, or an NPC could deliver your Gift Bag to a random player via Mog Mail. That would have felt like a Chirstmas event.

The Summer event was much better, if only for the fact that it had three distinctive dailies, rather than three identical ones... Not to mention they were all in the same region, rather than making go to three different cities to do the exact same thing three times...

It's still a fun event, but I'd say it's the weakest so far. Never minded the other event FATEs, because they were generally fairly different from regular FATEs and at least kept me doing the event for more than a couple minutes a day... Hopefully the certain seasonal goods available on the 24th liven things up a bit at least... I'm probably mostly just disappointed with the snow though... Such pathetic snowfall, I want it to settle so we can have snowball fights in Gridania...

I agree that this is the best seasonal event so far, but I think the dev team needs to raise the bar substantially. This year's starlight should be the worst event, and everything else should be way better. FFXI had a lot of really good seasonal events, and nothing FFXIV has done so far has been even close.

My personal favorite was the Easter Egg Hunt. That was more fun, searching for those Spriggans with special eggs was my favorite part. After doing my dailies, I spent there rest of my days hunting them down and made good money off them, finally breaking 1 million Gil for the 1st time.

The only thing I want from this event is the boots (which I already have) and Hoary. Once done, I probably would stop. Nothing else looks cool.

I like the gifting idea. Essentially allowing people to be generous by their own accord (though it'd probably work better if those items were obtained by some sort of means/currency that is given along with the personal turn in reward means/currency). Then again, this is all hindsight talking. It's easy to criticize and offer better ideas after the fact, which is often due to some previous experience concerning it... which the devs may or may not have experienced themselves.

The snow comment just reminds me of WoW's old snowball fights in AV PvP. That stuff was hilarious, but definitely annoying if you weren't of the mind to deal with it. Huge snowballs could be collected from the snowy terrain that, when thrown at a player, would cause a knockback that sends them flying very far. Needless to say, they never brought it back... but it was damn fun for many of us while it lasted. Of course, there has always been regular snowballs to throw at people, but not quite the same as launching people off cliffs.

The "Daily" component of this is aggravating for those who have alts and are trying to get items for them. My GF was up till 6am doing the round of dailies for the event. And there's no real involvement or fun in the actual event itself.

Run to Point, press button receive bacon letter, turn in letter, turn in present, get item, 3 times daily. The other events thus far were far more involving and fun and did not rely on those interested in getting items to have to log in EVERY DAY of the event to even get a chance at a decent collection.

I'm loving this event, too! It's so cute! And having the housing be part of the event was genius. It makes it feel… special, somehow.
I do agree, that past events like the easter egg hunt, and the summer games were really fun too!
But yes, this one has definitely out did itself! Happy Starlight Celebrations everyone!!!

Came in here looking for some complaining about dailies. Was not disappointed.

(I don't mind FATE spamming, but the dailies do keep me involved with the holiday event if I want that minion. Very clever.)
